PCP, VT and initial agreement

Well that's not something to look forward to. I can see why people just give up and pay.
As per my post earlier, why not dispute it? Send back a letter based on the template below and see what happens? They might back off, they might try to negotiate or the might persist. Worth a try, surely?

The VT has already been done and the vehicle collected ( 2 weeks ago). RCI finance have issued a letter stating the monies owed. I have already refute this based on similar grounds. They state that I owe £500 in excess mileage and some damage.
Not sure that letter template will help now. Any other advice?

Best case - you get threatened with court, and either they don't follow through or you win, and pay nothing.
Mid case - you get threatened with court, accept the inevitable, pay the rate plus some fees depending on when you give in.
Worst case - you get taken to court, fight it, lose. You end up paying the mileage rate plus court fees plus other costs. Depending on how long it takes you to accept the inevitable, you have a CCJ recorded against you.
How lucky do you feel?0 -

Best to mid case.......Do they even strike a deal? i.e. can you offer to pay PART of the figure or do they see this as weakness and go for the whole amount?0 -
Of course you can try and negotiate... But to even try would be admitting that actually, yes, you do owe the lot.
If you do try, then make sure you flag the letter as "without prejudice", so that if they do take you to court, it cannot be used in evidence.0 -

How long do I battle before giving up? If the court letter comes through is it too late?0 -
A debt is enforceable for six years from the date it becomes due - which, in this case, will be the date they send you the invoice after VTing...0
