Meter Reading Move In Day

Hi everyone!
I am looking for some advice, we moved into our first house in April and we have just been sent a bill from the previous energy provider EON for an amount we are 99% sure they are not due. It was an estimated bill so I gave them the official closing readings but we cannot find the readings for the day we moved in. Can I find this information anywhere else? Would it be included in my paperwork when we moved in or is this something we should have done?
Really don't want to be hit with a massive bill right now
Thanks in advance!

A lesson learnt, and hopefully not the hard way
Readings may be in handover documentation but for next time, take a photo of meter the minute you have access to it
I hope you are taking & recording at least monthly readings now you are in? Use you mobile for the photo, only takes minuteNumerus non sum0 -
Im sure we did take readings, I will have to look at my photos from my phone on my computer and have a look. Yes we check every month now and always get credit back! We were just so excited to get the keys and get in the house it probably just slipped our minds!0

When did you change suppliers ? Their first bill will show the readings at the date of the swop. Your new supplier will have given these readings to Eon.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

We changed in May, we have the closing readings it's the readings for when we first moved in we don't have
I really don't want to pay the estimated bill but unless I can get final readings for the day we moved in I am going to have to, and I know we are being charge for energy we haven't used as we didn't actually start living in the house till mid May!0 -
Bear in mind your actual moving in day will not be day from which you are charged, unless it was same day as completion day
There will be daily Standing charge to pay from the day you owned the he house, which may not be same day as moving inNumerus non sum0 -

Hello Harshoi1995 and welcome to the Forums.
Let us know if you're able to find the meter readings for the day you took over responsibility for the house. We'll be happy to rebill to these.
Have we started the account from the right date? If not, please let us have sight of the completion document (only need to see the date) and we can amend the start date too. This will have an impact on the daily standing charges.
Where we don't have readings for a home move, we'll estimate based on the past usage history we have for the property.
If you're able to find any of the above information please talk to our Home Moves specialists. Contact details are on our website or you could use the Live Chat service on there too. They'll be able to make the necessary changes.
Sorry to lose you Harshoi1995 and hope you've settled in to your new home.

Hi Malc!
We are unable to find anything, it must have been the excitement of moving into our first home, we wrote them on a piece of paper and I have been through all of my files and cant find it anywhere
We paid the estimated bill which was approx. £138 however as I said before we picked up the keys on the 27th but didn't actually move in until around the 10th of May so we know we have definitely been overcharged. I am assuming there is nothing we can do about this? I sent completion documents to the Homestarts Team but they billed me from the 25th not the 27th.
Thanks!0 -
2 days standing charges are not really worth the time and effort involved to get refunded, (though it depends on how you value your time)
Unless you can get the outgoing readings taken by the previous residents you may have to swallow this!0 -

I think you're right! Ahh well I will learn for next time0 -

Hello Harshoi1995 and it's a pity you can't find the readings you took. As Quentin says, readings from the previous residents would be okay.
What date was on the documents you sent in? If it was the 25th, we would be right to start the account then. If the 27th, then this would be wrong. Depending on the tariff and payment method, the difference in the daily standing charges would be around 60 pence per fuel.
