    It probably wouldnt annoy me so much if the whole tax route was different. I am an unpaid tax collector for CIS and VAT plus income tax!

    If we were 'dodgy' and just took cash for everything (which, as a building business we could easily do!) I wouldnt have to do all this extra work, plus get fines on top! I would also probably be driving a better car and have the new carpets I desperately want!

    Just another case of making the honest ones pay again!

    I've had this arguement with an inspector before.

    The cis scheme is supposedly there to stop the cash in hand builders and minimise the black economy but it totally fails to do that. If Mr Homeowner wants an extension and pays Bloggs the builder in cash then it has no effect. If people want to work for dubious companies then there are plenty out there. All it does is add an extra layer of administrative hassle to legitimate businesses, and like most government schemes it causes small businesses the most grief with draconian penalties. :mad:

    Did you have an actual argument with an inspector about it? obviously you didnt win, as I still have to fill in my returns every month ;):D

    Yes in the reception following a general commissioners meeting - they had refused the renewal of a clients CIS6 (gross payment status) card.

    The card was renewed :D Suppose you could say I won the battle but lost the war :rolleyes:
