Money Moral Dilemma: What should I do with forgotten change?

You have perked up my evening Chesky, your comment really made me laugh - and I have to agree with you!0

Tell the assistant. The customer might return for it. If they don't, then it becomes the assistant's Money Moral Dilemma - not yours. TBH it was never YOUR dilemma in the first place ... it was the dilemma of the poor soul who was too distracted to collect it!0

The choice is yours. Stick it in the charity box I would say.0

If we are talking 50p I'd probably keep it. Not that I think I'd notice as I don't check the coin area until I pick my own change up and scoop it up unchecked. More than a quid, I'd hand it over to the assistant.Yes I'm bugslet, I lost my original log in details and old e-mail address.0

I was once given too much change in a supermarket. The cashier was one of those who seem to think that they were paid in accordance with how fast they could throw the shopping down the belt - (that'll be £x - next !)
She was already scanning the next person's shopping before it clicked that she had given me change for £10 instead of the fiver I had given her. I got as far as saying 'excuse me, but you've given me the wrong cha.....' when she interrupted me and shouted at me to read the sign saying 'please check your change as errors cannot be recified later' . 'OK, no problem', says I - 'I'll just pop the extra £5 you've given me into this charity box'. Her face was a picture.0 -
The money might have been left deliberately as a "random act of kindness", so the advisable thing to do is to squeal delightedly, take a photo of the loose change in the coin holder and post it on your Instagram account: #heartwarming #mademyday #blahblahblah
Joking aside, if it's more than 50p, I'd hand it over to the supervisor. If it's less, I'd just leave it at the side of the checkout for someone else to use as the odd stray copper can be handy if your bill comes to, say, £10.01.0 -
Surely this is no different than someone leaving change in a vending machine?0
