We check it every couple of months - has had 4 bars of charge since we bought it.0 -
An emergency item that is never used but always fully charged.
Sounds like a shaggy dog story to me.0 -

The OP's original post stated ''we routinely check that it is fully charged prior to every longer trip''.0 -
Bloody hell I never expected the Spanish Inquisition :0)0

I am curious as to what this item is... It's for emergencies. It's always charged especially for longer trips. It's hidden in the glovebox. It is prized by car dealers...
Does it vibrate?0 -
Whatever it is, if it can be left in the car for very long periods and stays fully charged then I want one.

This is exactly the reason why whenever I take my car in for repairs/service I always remove anything valuable. It just reduces the possibility of something bad happening and then having to go through the unpleasantries.0

How do you keep it fully charged if you never take it out of the glovebox?unforeseen wrote: »How did you know that? Was it ever checked? An emergency item that is never used but always fully charged.

I have one of these:

and when fully charged, I can put it in my glove box, leave it for 2 or 3 months and when checking the state of charge after this period of time I know it will still be showing 100% charge.
Modern lithium ion batteries can hold a charge far longer than nickel cadmium batteries ever could so what the OP states isn't anything unusual.
I must admit that when I initially read the hype I wasn't really convinced but I've used it to jump start a couple of different cars and I was amazed how well it actually worked.0
