WIFI Mesh issue

Afternoon all.

First off #1stworld issue so apologies in advance.

We have BB supplied by Sky and we have the Q router.

We have a lot of WIFI deadspots in our house so I bought a Tenda Mesh AC1200.

I have set them up in bridge mode and the WIFI in the house has vastly improved BUT!! Cab I keep the same WIFI name throughout the house? I only ask as we have Sonos speakers and if I am not on the correct (initial setup WIFI) when using the iPhone app you cannot see any of the speakers.

TIA

As far as I can see you can name the SSID to whatever you want, 32 characters according to user manual. So I can't see why using the same name throughout the house, as you put it, would be a problem. But I stand corrected if wrong.

Tenda Mesh AC1200...Can I keep the same WIFI name
I set one of these up for a neighbour. The manual says...(yes, Question1.)
Q1. How can I change my SSID and password?
A1. Run Tenda WiFi App, tap Settings in the lower-right corner,
tap Wireless Settings, change your SSID and password, and
tap Save. Then, you need to reconnect your mobile devices
using the new SSID and password.

We had this exact issue using BT powerline adapters and Sonos.
Even though the SSID's were named the same Sonos treated them as different networks, so we could only connect to the Sonos when using one of the networks.
We didn't find a way around this so ended up using an ethernet cable from one powerline adapter into the back of the Sonos speaker which helped.

    Morning - thanks.

Was this to just one speaker or all?

    I have several.....

We have 2 speakers, a 5 and a 3. When we plugged in the 5 it was enough to allow it to find the 3 each time as well.

I'm not sure of the logistics of it, but that is what worked for us.

For WiFi roaming to work, you will need to make sure that the following values are the same across all access points:
    SSID, password, security type, encryption.

If only one of the above is different, then devices will treat the networks as separate.

Note that Network is different than network

That being said, some clients refuse to roam because they only connect to a single BSSID (that is, the MAC address of the Wireless access point, which is different for each AP).
