Mortgages with defaults -finance advise centre

Options
Hi,

I have 2 defaults on my credit file from 2016. I am a homeowner of 14 years and I'm looking to move. I've been in touch with the finance advice centre. They have agreed a mortgage in principle for me, the fees are really steep I feel. Is this just what I need to suck up as I've messed up my credit score or is there anyone out there that will lend to poor credit but with less fees??

Poor credit usually means higher costs - you are deemed a risk to lenders and as such they will charge extra to cover this risk.

That’s not to say there aren’t other lenders out there, also if you have some serious equity in your property that will usually be looked upon favourably.

May be worth speaking with a broker - perhaps even speak to your current lender and see what they can other, as already with them they may not undertake as many checks.
