found the makro site and it is only for people who can buy for business, what a pain......you cant just join, they are good prices.

Dont let that put you off, 10 mins work and you can get yourself a makro card.

oops,I meant to ask about the scooba, which is the mopping robot, rather than the just vacuuming robot, they don't seem to be as widely used. Not going to buy one until they have ironed out any poblems and the price is reasonable.

I have a 530 which I bought from Lakeland (using quidco and a money off code). After about a month it packed up but a quick call to Lakeland meant the broken one was collected and a new one delivered 2 days later. The reassurance of a great returns policy is worth a few extra ££ in this instance.

The 530 is great. It goes under my sofa's and furniture. It can't do under my TV unit but neither does my standard vac. I just set it to go before I pop out and then when I get back it's done. I do have to clear all the large toys off the floor first but I'd do that if I were doing it the old fashioned way so what's the difference

You should try and get the original copy of the gadget show as had more info on it and they sang its praises very highly.

Also check out the user reviews in the forums on roombareview.

Tried to get the roomba 560 today from Makro and there was a sign at the front door saying they had made a misprice and the two should have been reversed. !!!!!! I found out too late.

Hi, we brought one on Sat (joined Costco)and got a roomba 530 for £140.99 (picked up the £20off voucher in store - valiid til 6th july).

This is the best thing ever, set it off sat am to clean the kitchen was done in about 45mins, then set it off for the front room again 45mins later it was done.

This is fab. We have 2 cats, cat litter tray and a toddler, it picked up everything:cat litter, crumbs, cat fur, hair everything in its path.

The cats & son were scared of it, it makes some noise but not as loud as the hoover. Easy to clean, and empty the bin.

Havent used the virtual wall, dont really need too.

Best £140 ive spent in a long time. The only downside is where to put it when it is not in use? Currently tucked away in a corner.

Brought one for my elderly aunt aswell, she lives in a flat with all rooms going off the corridor. She is going to try her's now ive used mine sowill let you know what she thinks about it - it should be a great help to her as she has arthritus and will mean she can let it do the hoovering for her.

If you are tempted, get one you wont regret it.
  • Here's a link to a guide on cleaning your roomba. This is based on the older model roomba but should be pretty similar internals to the 530 model. with pets its important to make sure you try and keep the brush free of tangled hair as this can mean it dies quite quickly.

hope it helps and glad you managed to find one

Hey Holly well our Scooba finally got brought back from the US. Managed to get the 100W US/UK convertor from Maplin for £15 in the sale so total price was £145. So far its been used a couple of times a week since it arrived and the wife and I are pleased with the results. It takes about 40-45 mins to do our kitchen which is a very odd shape with a central console in the middle and little storage areas under the cooker area that it needs to squeeze into. You just place it in the middle of the largest open area and after filling with clorox and warm water turn it on and set it going. It does increaing circles until it hits a wall then goes off at 90 degrees a few times until it hits further walls and then eventually goes into a wall follow mode so it goes around the edge of the room or round the edge of our food preperation console in the middle of the kitchen. The only thing is its pretty noisy but apart from that its been doing a great job of picking up crumbs and scrubbing the floors. We had some wire racks that had left rust marks on the floor which after the first clean had been scrubbed away nice and clean. You do have to spend about 5 mins cleaning it after each use by rinsing the filter and the dirty water tank and removing the brushes and rinsing everything but not that much of a chore and it all pops out nice and easy. I would definately buy another and have already recommended it to other family members as a great little gadget. The IR wall device is a bit lame so I dont use it any more as it sends out a cone shapped IR signal which means I point it down a line I dont want to cross and by the time the beam reaches the other wall its spread out so far that I cant get within 1.5 ft of where I wanted the virtual wall to actually end.

Has made us think about picking up a roomba on our next trip to the US at christmas.
