Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one.
Managed up slightly earlier this morning, no plans for the day, might just tackle the kitchen later, the floor is a disgrace. OH in and out the floor gets filthy.
Overnight frost but it has lifted, its still pretty cold. My new socks arrived yesterday, they are heat holders, and boy do they hold the heat, my feet were toasty warm all day. I got OH a pair too. I also bought him a replacement for the Amish collar he lost last year, His neck gets painful if it gets cold.
My neighbour came over, they were going to Aldi, did I want a lift. I gratefully said yes and did the shopping, so no need to go in on Thursday after the physio.
Chicken and bacon pie tonight, OH has asked for brussels and carrot for veg. If we have pie we do not have potato, enough carbs in the puff pastry!!0 -
Spet yesterday mostly watching Charles Dowd no dig videos, will be using a small patch by the greenhouse for this this year using the compost from the tree with some wood ash mixed in. Need t plan the garden too because while I love growing stuff, I don't like the look of an allotment garden, I want something that looks good all year instead of something that looks like a messy allotment. We'll see if I can pull htis off. The OH doesn't know it yet but he's going to be roped into moving the compost and putting in beds....Still haven't ordered new seeds. Might go to a garden center locally, they have an enormous range includingsome weird things [ asaparagus pea anyone? grew that before lokked pretty but I wouldn't say it tasted of asparagus] and I want to get some good pumpkins or squashes this year to be planted in the normal compost heap. I did check out straw bale gardening, and had a think about it, but unless I can have some off a farmer friend, the amount you need to buy is too much [ 42 bales a minimum order is way over the top]
It's quite nippy here today, will light the fire in a bit...Had to apply for ESA yesterday. The first time, I was on hold for 30 minutes and then gave up because the district nurse was coming, the seocnd time I was on hold for twenty mintues and he finally answered, I said hello, he said, hello hello, I can't hear you and put the hpone down on me! Thirs time lucky though...They don't make it easy do they?
Not doing so great physically this time, my arm feels like it's been dipped in acid, it's just the nerves and the absence of tissue but I'm terrified of developing lymphodema....I'm getting used to being lopsided now though, shame you can't buy one boob bras...
BTDT my codolences. Holly, have fun sorting your wadrobe. Want to come and do mine?Gers, enjoy your trip and the smell of fish and chips, not even a chip butty? TA enjoyyour meet up, it's really nice to have live people to talk to, you end up waffling about all sorts of sunjects, makes me feel a bit better when I get to talk about things other than cancer. red ruby, well, it might make you sleep like a log, but don't do too much. Nelski, sounds like a profitable weekend away [beinning week getaway doesn'thave the same ring to it] and fun too, enjoy the mattress and snug bed

Hi everyone, been absent for a few days, I bought myself an instant pot and have been busy trying it out and looking at online recipes. It came on Sat and I made a thai massaman curry for our tea which turned out well.Couldnt really do much as the DGC didnt go home until 4 so promised myself the Sunday to get better aquainted only to find our internet down in the morning. After switching on and off like you do & still nothing ,I nipped next door to ask them as they have the same provider. He had already rung up and confirmed our area was off  until about 4.It was actually a bit earlier though.
I went in town yesterday & picked up a new electric carving knife. We had it for years & years so can't complain.I popped into a few cshops to see if they had a stove top pressure cooker book,as you can convert the recipes.I used to see loads but sods law when you want one
I called in the transport office when I got off the bus as someone told me Andy Burn ham ,the mayor of Manc had set up a bus pass scheme for women born in the 50s who were having to wait until 66 for SP and bus passes.Apparently my DOB misses out by a few months  - worth a go though.I seem to be the only one who pays when I get on. 2 1/2 years to go then!
DHs cough finally seems a lot better but I am sniffling now.
Its raining here now but there is still ice here and there on the pavements,or was when I walked the hound this morning.
BTDT so sorry for your loss
Taff- hope your arm eases
Snoozer, feel better wishes for Steve
SO sorry you haven't heard from your son.I'm sure DH will enjoy his hot choc if you go out.
Warm wishes to all xxx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon all. It's a bit quiet on here today. Is everyone in hibernation.
Had a nice coffee meet with my friend this morning and, as usual, chatted away non-stop. We stayed on for lunch and this time got deep dish chicken, leek and ham pie, with chips and peas. The pie was enormous so we each cut our pie in half, wrapped it in serviettes and brought half home. That will do nicely for my tea with a bowl of soup! It really is a lovely pie!
Only purchases made were more Vit C capsules and a necklace reduced from £22.50 to £3. I am undecided whether to keep it for myself or put away in my present stash. I feel I may keep it myself.
I have just put an old film on to record - Anastasia - that will be watched when I am tempted to put my feet up for a couple of hours! I prefer the old films to modern day ones!
SO I too am disappointed in your son and wish I could give him a few choice words. Regardless I hope you had a nice trip out with your DH and he enjoyed his hot chocolate and cream. x

Afternoon all, it's a grey, damp and dreary day here
I'm in the late club today but we have been to town. We stopped at Mr Fix It's surgery to put in his script first and then headed in. The car park in town was manic and the shops were busyish. Sorted out our banking, bought myself a pair of slippers in Mat*lan and avoided the sale that was on ( I really don't need anymore tops etc ! ). We went to the council offices to collect some food caddy bags but they didn't have any available, it's not the first time they are OOS either . Then we met Mr Fix it's cousin and we chatted so much that we just had to go for coffee. We called in Li*l for bread and milk etc on the way home.
This afternoon I have to crack on with the photo sorting, didn't think it would take so long . Still it's keeping me out of mischief. I also have to ring Dad tonight as I want to go and change his bed and do some cleaning tomorrow. I'm no longer able to do as much as I used to, so at some point he will have to start looking for a cleaner.
Tea tonight will be the rest of the chicken pie and some oven chips.
TA hope you get your cake too, but as I always tell the DGC you must eat your dinner or there's no pudding :rotfl:
Nelski safe trip home
Take care and hugs to all
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Checking in from Euston station with a large rose in hand but sadly no longer in above mentioned bed
Trip here fairly uneventful apart from a little vile woman who wanted to push past me getting on the escalator by elbowing me in the ribs.....safe to say she didn't win... she clearly hadn't met a northerner :rotfl::rotfl::o.
Cant get a train till 7.30 though thanks to the mad off peak rules so chillin with a vino then later will go get some train gastronomy from M+S :j
Back to normal lfe tomorrow car service first thing then banana sourcing....thats what i get for enjoying myself a bit eh
Anyway have a nice evening all and c ya tomoz x0 -
Made it to Glasgow in one piece, had an uneventful drive in the murky rain. Over the Rest I caught up with wagon traffic so it was a slow drive after that.
Coming into Glasgow during rush hour is awful, I forget how bad traffic queues are. Anyway, managed to park close to a chippy for DM’s fish supper. Yes, I resisted! :j Even when DM left half ‘for tomorrow’ I haven’t touched the chips, chips, chips...
I received a lovely long email from my SIL in QLD, with descriptions of the huge number of exotic fruit trees she has on the land she’s just bought. A sample includes: black sapote trees (chocolate pudding tree), jaboticaba, acerola cherry, carob and ice cream bean trees. Almost makes me want to visit even though I swore I wouldn’t go back after my eldest nephew’s funeral. Maybe?
Happy travels NELSKI.
Great pie buy TA.
Hugs all round.0 -
good evening chums just about made the last post before bed
had a good night at the pub quiz and our team won another two bottles of wine to go into the vino stash (when we have 8 we have a share out ) Good fun and lots of laughs
nelski I hope you got home safe 'n' sound and a Brighton meet in the summer sounds good and is eminently doable only about 80 odd miles and a piece of cake for me
Now your back in Mancland I bet you can't wait to trundle round the banana counter in the morningsit in the cafe avec book and coffee and let your mum loose on her own.
BTDT my condolences to you and your family , a sudden unexpected death is dreadfully upsetting and I know how you are feeling, take it one day at a time and be kind to yourself
H'Harvey good to see you posting and you too take it easy and do things in bite sized chunks with lots of rest inbetween
Right now its time for bed and Zebedee would say so good night God Bless all here
