This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Yesterday was a bit of a miserable wet and dreary day so I didn’t get out for a walk. I didn’t fancy getting soaked. Today is supposed to by dry so I will go today instead.
I’m really annoyed with myself. They have changed the rubbish collection day starting from yesterday and this road has been changed to Mondays, and I forgot.
I’m going to make an attempt at starting to sort out my wardrobe. There are quite a few things in there that I haven’t worn for some time and it’s the sort of job that can easily be done in small chunks.
Other than that I don’t have any firm plans for today.
BTDT So sorry to hear about your mother in law, my condolences to you and your husband.
Take care everyone x0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Holly, hope you manage to get out today.
Thinking of you BTDT.
Back to being cold and frosty after yesterday's mild weather, I'll probably have to scrape the car. Rain due later so no sunshine today.
No heating at work again yesterday first thing, my office was 7 degrees and I got into trouble for emailing someone high up to let them know! That's 3 Mondays we've had no heating and I'm fed up with it and it's not fair on the children having to keep their coats on. Anyway, rant over!
The useless lad in the office has put in his notice, he has another job, hopefully we'll get someone a little more willing.
Haircut after work today, much needed as it hasn't been cut since before Christmas, I resemble Freddie Boswell!
Hoping all's well in your worlds, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Holly - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
BTDT - sorry to hear about your MIL, condolences to you, your DH and family x
Still pitch black, but we've had a hard frost, but yesterday was damp and dismal for most of the morning but did then dry up a bit.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost so tonight we'll have roasted chicken portions, mash, veg and gravy.
Yesterday work was either all or nothing, we'll see what today brings.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
I'm still in bed enjoying the last of the overnight heat in it.
There's the last bit of paperwork to do this morning, then I've got my swapped teaching time this afternoon. My bag is packed ready to go down to Glasgow after that. I've promised my DM chip shop fish and chips which pleases her. I won't indulge as I won't be there until about 7pm and it's too late for me to eat.
My thoughts are with the poorlies and those who are struggling- and those who are fine too. Happy Tuesday to everyone.0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting. It's so nice to have you back with us posting regularly x
BTDT I was so sorry to about about your MIL. I lost my dear dad to a massive stroke which took him instantly. I can empathise with how you are all feeling after your sudden loss. x
CAMELOT we haven't heard about the sackless lad recently I was assuming he had already left! Wow I can hear your excitement!
I am meeting my oldest friend for our regular weekly meet up this morning. But now that we have decided to extend it to include lunch there will be no cake involved! Maybe a piece after lunch ...?! As much as I love their fish and chips I might try something else today.
We will probably have a browse of our few remaining shops afterwards. There are odd bits I need from here and there as I never did make the effort to go out yesterday. The wind put me off!
I will probably just have something light for tea if we have a big lunch. I have plenty of eggs so maybe an omelette.
Have a good day if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Nice to hear STEVE is home SNOOZER I hope this time he keeps well and tolerates his next chemo better. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Raining here and has been for 24 hours solid OH and the Pup got soaked to the skin while out walking yesterday and both had a hot bath to warm them through (not together :rotfl: ) I did the sensible thing and stayed in front of the fire in the warm.
I am going to go back to work today I feel a bit better, but mainly because every time I lay down I start coughing and am struggling to sleep atm so im thinking if I go back to work it usually wears me out to the degree that I sleep like a log
Need to check the freezer after this for something for dinner there is lots in there so we wont starve.
BTDT I am so sorry to hear about your MIL xx
Snoozer I hope Steve is ok xx
Have good days all xx
Edited to add Candy and Nels and anyone else that fancies it, we could always arrange a girls night / os meet in Brighton if you fancy it0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly
BTDT sorry to read about your MiL. My sincere condolences to you and your DH.
Snoozer good to hear Steve is home
Poppy how are you ?
Didn't do much yesterday, I'll be pleased to see the warmer spring days.
No reply to the message I left for DS, DiL the other week, not sure if to try again.
Haven't seen or heard from them this year
Think I'll make DH happy and go out today, he does enjoy hot chocolate with cream.
Take are allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning
BTDT sorry to hear about your loss. My Dad died of the stroke after 7 weeks of a near vegetive state I always say I wish he had gone straight away but either way you have lost a close family member and your hubby is probably in shock. Take care of yourself at this difficult time
mmmm had a small sleep in for me today. This bed ...that I'm still in....is so comfy. I think I'll be squeezing it in my case today along with the shampoo ....hope they dont notice
Session yesterday was so great.. kids were remarkably well behaved and I had a real laugh with them. Got another 100 today so hoping for much the same but its only an hour so whatever I can live with it.
After that Im on the trip home which I anticipate will be sardine like and generally hideous. Not due back till 11 ish so its a long one but if I can just get a seat ill be happy enough with my book
Sadly the rain was coming down in bucket loads last night so I never got my explore time but I have made a plan to come back in summer ...candy come with me if you likeohhhhh maybe a Brighton OS meet ..Jackiemum and red you would do that I bet. Anyway I ate at my hotel which was daft expensive but so good. I had a bowl of seafood chowder packed with mussels prawns lobster and haddock all served with toasted sourdough toast. So good I could eat it again this morning. Instead though I nipped over to asda last night and got 2 pain au chocolate reduced to 47p for todays brekky ...refuse to pay 20 quid for brekky here
Dont need to check out till 12 so up till then I'm gonna lie in this bed and watch morning tv
Enjoy your day all :A0 -
Morning everyone. The car is frozen this morning so will have to scrape that soon. I also need to go for petrol as the light went on yesterday but I was running late so after I take dd to school I must go
Working later and after school even though it’s not my turn the other lady is ill so I am hoping that she will do Wednesday and Thursday if she is back0 -
Morning all,
I don't normally mind Tuesdays but today was the day my bank caught up with my shenanigans over the weekend and I'm £104 lighter. Considering I was out till the wee small hours and that included dinner and taxi's it's perhaps not too bad, however I said I'd be home by midnight and that clearly didn't happen! Anyway, I've moved some things about in my budget and we're back on track.
Yesterday was NSD #1 too.
I skipped the gym yesterday after work, I just wanted home. A (burnt) omelette for dinner and then chilled with the boys on the xbox for a bit. Slept like a baby, too.
Today I suspect I'll be late leaving the office. I'm back down to London tomorrow till Friday night so lots of admin stuff to do before I go. The train tickets and hotel will be paid for by work, everything else I need to pay for and I think it goes on expenses.
Chicken casserole for dinner tonight and not much else planned.
BTDT - Oh my, so sudden. I hope you're both doing ok. And it's perfectly understandable to think about your parents. Times like these often cause for self reflection.
TA - Have some cake, lass!!!
Nelski - Enjoy your lovely sounding morning and hopefully your trip home isn't too painful.0
