Freeview recorder no longer keeps recordings

I bought a Bush Freeview recorder just over 2 years ago. It has worked perfectly until a few weeks ago when I found that all my recordings had disappeared. I emailed Argos support and they told me that an automatic software update had caused the problem. They advised me that a software fix was being produced. In the meantime further recordings have disappeared and I have no update as to when the software update will be rolled out.

My query is, after two plus years am I entitled to request a replacement model that does record if they cannot fix the current issue? How long would be a suitable time to expect a fix?

I would say that a 2 year old Bush recorded may not be worth much, and they are entitled to reduce the value due to the usage you have had out of it.

It might be now the time to consider upgrading to a newer model.

Just seems that it is not future-proofed, no company can guarantee their products will be compatible with any future updates, look at Apple.

Even if you were due a refund or replacement, they will not give you the full value and will not replace your 2 year old one with a brand new one, they can reduce the "payout" for the use you have had, and a Bush recorded is not going to be worth much after 2 years I'm afraid

You would also have to prove the fault was inherent, which you will not be able to do given that it has worked for the last 2 years.
