where to find leather patch to fix chair?

Hi there,

I have a leather type computer chair which is a number of years old now and the front of the seat part has all frayed with filling showing. Wonder where I can buy imitation or real black leather type patch to mend it. I have tried taping it over with black duct tape but a waste of time.

If the fabric is showing fraying it sounds as though it is vinyl or similar product. Depending on how bad the damage is it may not be possible to repair. Patches of leather may work but it is not the ideal way of repairing. The best way would be to replace the panel in the chair which a good upholsterer would be able to do but will not be cheap. Unless the chair is a very good quality one and has sentimental value it may be better to replace it as computer chairs are not that expensive these days.

if the patch required isnt too large, then any furniture shop will have swatches. ask the manager has he/she any old ones that you can have.
ive seen them thrown in the skip before now.
my local market has a chap who sells lots of materials, he will cut a bit off as a sample or for small money.
