I really can't imagine why anyone on here would know especially as we dont know where you live
How kind of you to suggest I ask, "what sort of meter they are offering".
I did, "it's a smart meter that saves you money", was the answer.
"we"? Please re-read my post re., "where I live".
Any further sooeth would make me a matelot.

Just be aware that a Smart Meter relies on there being an adequate mobile phone signal. We had one fitted way back but have no signal so it's dumb. I think that at the time I assumed that it fed its data back via the National Grid. They promised to fit an antenna to boost reception but never actually came up with the goods.0

EDF rang me last week, telling me they were 'in our area' fitting smart meters and did we want one, as we had to have one because of our tariff with them. He sounded like he was doing double glazing. He started off quite confident about the whole thing. I asked him are these SMET1 or 2, and he had to admit they were the older ones and I was right that it wasn't really worth me getting one at the moment. Turned out we didn't have to have one either. He did say they were rolling out the new ones later this year though, so I suggested he call me back when they are ready. Does depend what you want them for, but I can't see the point. Only time anyone comes to read our meter is usually about a week after we've submitted readings ourselves, which I normally do once a quarter - never had anyone read the meter out of the blue.0

Is there an option in martin's energy club to select 'no smart meter requirement'? I'm sure it must be there but I can't see it.0
