Huawei Warranty Dispute

Hi,

I got a Huawei Watch 2 4G Sport last October which was sent as a replacement for a previous Huawei watch that developed a fault and they were unable to repair.

A few weeks ago while I was wearing it I felt the strap go loose on my wrist and when I looked the casing had cracked where the pin that holds the strap fits into it.

I rang them up and they sent me a jiffy bag to send it off in and I waited. I didn't hear anything for a week so gave them a call and they told me that they wouldn't be repairing or replacing it as it had been damaged by me. I can categorically say that I have not damaged it and the watch up to the point of it breaking didn't have a mark on it.

I've done a bit of digging and there are reports of the same thing happening to other people, I'd post links but it won't let me as a new user.

Where do I stand on this? Do I have to prove in some way that the watch was faulty?

All comments and help greatly appreciated.

Dom

  • When was the original purchase made and who did you buy it from?
Those two points will help determine what options may be available to you.
  • Hi,

I didn't buy it, the watch was sent to me by Huawei as a replacement for another watch that developed an electronic fault but they were unable to repair it so offered me a new one as a replacement.

The replacement doesn't reset the clock, the original purchase is when your contract started. The retailer is who your problem lies with. This is what post 2 wants to know.
  • The original watch was bought over 2 years ago by my wife as a present for me from H Samuel. It would have been out of warranty now but Huawei have confirmed that there is a warranty on the new watch that I have received. I've not dealt with the retailer at any point with the fault on the previous watch or the replacement.

They agree there is a warranty.
They say you have damaged it beyond the scope of said warranty.
You need to prove you haven't.
  • I was afraid of that. Short of hooking myself up to a polygraph I don't see that there is really any way I can do that.
