My Home Move Conveyancing recommended by MSE ?

A couple of months ago I searched on MSE and found a recommendation for My Home Move Conveyancing but now I can't find it.

Maybe MSE has stopped recommending them, can anyone advise ?

  • Don't know about that but I would suggest you find some local firms of solicitors and ring them up to ask them what their charges are for conveyancing.

Get a written estimate and then feel free to ring again to ask for explanations about the fees. You will then be able to get a feel for how helpful they are. Having good service is more important than saving the last £50.

Remember that a lot of online firms give low headline fees and then add on all sorts of extras. If they aren't local you could get a call centre person answering the phone who doesn't really understand what is going on and you will have to wait (sometimes a long time) for his/her overworked manager to look at your file to give you a sensible explanation of the position and any choices you need to make. So you can get frustrated and end up making dangerous assumptions about your position.

If the firm is local their bottom line is that if they don't get back to you soon you will call in and demand to know what is going on.

Having an online status system is all very well if you understand the significance of the information you are given. Being told that something has happened like "all searches in" may lead people to assume that this is the last stage before exchange of contracts when it need not necessarily be that.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
