My husband has a company car so when we are going somewhere we most often try and use his for the free petrol but my car is a 2ltr so does eat petrol a little so like I said in an earlier post I think when the lease is up on my car I will look into something more suitable.
Awe bless the 2 yr old, theres only so long you can get away with walloping someone to get what you want. My 4 year old has changed to giving me 'gorgeous' eyes to get what she wants :rotfl: bless her
I know I have a 2.5L Jeep and it guzzles it - I always get my petrol at Tesco's - around £40 - £50 per week and thats just staying local. My husband and I give ourselves a small allowance each week and when its gone its gone - he use's his to play snooker during his lunch break (3 times a week) and I use mine to take my son to various playgroups and we throw everything else at our debts - which are around the same amount as yours.
Bless my little man - he's not at all well - stinking cold/cough/wheezing and teething - he just wanted me to play with Thomas and friends - I am just addicted to this site :rotfl:0 -
Hi Keeping motivated.
Seems you've been pretty busy and getting things underway with a bang.
Something i would like to mention though. It seems that you have recently opened 3/4 new CC accounts - is this correct?
Having alot of credit checks on your credit history can affect your credit score, so i would advise not doing anything else on that front for about 6 months - just to make sure your rating has recovered.
Also, once you have got your vouchers, spent the amount required and then paid it off again - you might want to see if any of these new cards have a 0% on BT promotional offer with them. Then you can transfer the Tesco and Virgin so that you don't pay interest on them while paying them off.
Yes thats right I have opened a few credit cards recently and you are probably right about the credit rating so once I have taken advantage of the offers I was going to close the accounts will that help my rating?
I don't intend to open anymore now.0 -
Ok an update.
I have paid off the Tesco CC in full :T I decided to do this after I looked at how much money I had left for the month and if I didn't pay it now then the money would have just dwindled on something else. Also the Tesco card was a high interest so I wanted it gone for that reason.
I have not listed anything at all on ebay yet
but I will do it this week I am determined.
I did all my other jobs on my list yesterday so thats something.
Money I have due in that can go towards the debt are:
£94 Expenses
£50 Top Cash Back (due 30th Novemeber)
£40.39 Quidco (not sure when this is payable I will check)
Oh and when I was thinking how did the £811 CC add up to that I remembered that I am owed £293 for concert tickets that I bought for friends recently so I will chase that up.
So when all that comes in it will be £477.39 towards the debt. So that has cheered me up.
So that could pay the Virgin card off if I haven't already paid it before this money comes in.0 -
Well done - you are going great guns - you'll soon have it all paid off and then you can start your savings!!!!!
When we've paid off the debts we are going to save a 'safety net fund' and just leave it and then we are going to save for a family holiday - I'm already doing that with the child benefit - it used to be used for the debts but now as they will be gone in a few weeks or so - I've decided not to touch them!0 -
I forgot that my car is booked in for a service next week and its going to cost £150 plus £10 they charge for going on their insurance for lending a car off them while they do the work
So I have set my husband the challenge of making the money on matched betting and doing the bingos to pay for the service and he said he'll give it a go. Don't think he will make the full amount but anything towards it is a help.0 -
I just wanted to pop in and say well done for the progress you have made so far. One thing i started doing is putting money away for yearly expences like the car service every month. that way i dont have to find money from nowhere! things like that always used to end up on the credit card!

Hi KM, Sounds like you're making good progress! After I'd read your first post (and because our situation is similar) I decided to keep a spending diary for every day this week. Already I am horrified  at the amound of cash I am going through just on everyday things (bus fares, milk, lottery at work, postage). It has certainly given me something to think about as to where I can make little savings - maybe that might work for you too? I have also set myself a budget for next week so maybe you could try that? Keep going, we're all with you!Not Buying It! 20150

Not updated for a while because there was nothing really to update...
My expenses of £94 have now arrived so I will bank that today and that will go towards the £135 Virgin bill so I'm pleased about that coz there will be no interest if I pay the full amount by the due date so I will make up the difference from the current account and pay in full today.
I am embarrassed to say that I didn't list anything on Ebay as I said I would
I have a busy week this next week but I will try my best to list everything as I think this would be the best time coming up to Christmas.
Hope everyone is ok.0 -
Hi KM
I'm new to all this too having stalked like you for a bit.
Made some positive steps yesterday and feel better for it already. Now I just need to stay away from the shops this weekend - my downfall being buying things I really don't need because i just love shopping. So trip to the gym (already paid for in advance) and cooking for next week in store for me.
I so want to keep motivated this time but I think this site will help! Good luck. LizTWannabe Debt Free Newbie but feeling positive!Ashamed to be where I am
