I'd ordinarily have gone to the garage
Why not just buy the correct size (from Halfords or a motor factors) and fit them yourself, it's not exactly difficult.
  • alan_d, no perhaps not, but I am not shy in admitting I am useless with things like that. I can find my way around what goes where in the engine but the whole idea of fitting a wiper blade baffles me, and I really couldn't be bothered!

I have frequently found the wiper blades in Halfords to be wrong as to what size blade I need. I end up either measuring the blade myself, or pulling the old blade off the car and taking it in with me.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Changing out wiperblades is on par with changing a light bulb.

Not always. The new wiper blade may come with a little bag of adaptors. None of them will fit the car, however many different ways round you try them.

Instead, you have to pry the adaptor off the old blade, hoping that it doesn't crumble after years of UV exposure.

Once you have finally wedged the old adaptor onto the new blade, you will have forgotten how you got the old blade off. So it's now a case of wiggling, turning the blade the other way up, and threading wiper arms through random holes in the blade until you get lucky and it all goes together.
