This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning :)

Checking in from my hotel bed in Brighton
Clearly I didn't forget to pack my early morning wake up head :( but saying that I did fall asleep about 9 last night so maybe not too bad.

Good trip here yesterday bar the London arm ...I loathe getting around London everyone is so rude and self focused...."get out the way my need is greater than yours"...yeah right course it is. Anyway arrived to lovely sunshine although as redruby said it was bitterly cold. Hotel is lovely and i had a walk around the marina area last night although I ended up bringing a curry back from an indian restaurant next door so that I could chill out and watch Dancing on Ice :o

Course is a short one today kinda like a slot in a day of speakers for a very large group of young people. Looking forward to it and it does give me plenty of time this morning to get there and maybe some more exploring time this afternoon. So wish it was summer it is just the place to sit outside with a chilled vino...rr you are very lucky to live here :)

OS wise I have no intentions of doing anything although to keep everyone here busy I will have a shower soon and use as many fluffy white towels as possible :D

Hope you all have a lovely Monday and that the sun shines down on you for a change

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black, but wind is raging and it's pouring with rain, but air feels warmer.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he's requested pancakes from the LO yorkshire batter.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede (me), green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy - lovely it was too, menfolk all happy as the crackling was just right. Tonight we will be eating fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

We did visit my parents yesterday morning for an hour then came home so I could get going with the lunch although I had put the meat in the oven before we went out, so it was just prep of everything else that was needed, pack ups were sorted too, so once we'd eaten we just chilled for the afternoon.

Back to work for me today, the weeks seem to be flying by at the moment.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Thanks for the start Nelski, enjoy your day in Brighton!
Hope Steve has had a good night snoozer.

I had a great weekend with the DGC here, DD came over too on Saturday for tea and cake for DGSs birthday. All their mess is tidied away and the washing done ready for a new week.

DS1 heard on Saturday that the DGCs Grandad had died so he has the children for a few weeks as their Mum feels she can't face them, seems strange to me that you wouldn't find comfort from seeing your own children but each to their own.

Off swimming in a minute, no fat club for me, I'm not going back after the leader's rather patronising message last week, I'll do it on my own - only sorry I paid for a 12 week block.

Hope you are all as well as can be, take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. Hope you are enjoying Brighton.

CAMELOT that seems strange to me too. But each to their own. SNOOZER I hope you get Steve home today feeling better.

After a warmer night and the added bonus of rain the snow has gone! I have been stuck in the house since Friday so will get the bus down to town just to get out of the house. It sounds very windy out there but with the increase in temps it will be a warmer wind!

Just been out to the freezer for today's victuals. The usual hm soup and wrap for lunch and smoked haddock for tea (topped with a poached egg) with salad and baby potatoes. I shall enjoy the fish all the more as it's what I got reduced to half price in Aldi.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care xx

    Morning everyone

It is much milder this morning than it has been thankfully. I’ve got a friend coming for coffee this morning and I think we will probably go for a short walk just around the estate. I feel the need to get out of the house.

This afternoon when she has gone I will return to reading/watching TV programmes I have recorded.

I don’t know what to have for dinner this evening. There is some left over veg from yesterday so will probably have some cod or haddock with that as it is quick and easy.

TA I did my list of what I needed to get from the freezer yesterday, and managed to get it all in one go.

Nelski enjoy Brighton even if it is a work trip.

Sleeping on the sofa can’t be doing you much good taff, and you could really do with some good rest right now. I hope that you can get the removal of the drain booked so that you can sleep in your bed.

Snoozer I hope that Steve’s temperature stayed down and that he is well enough to come home today.

    Take care everyone x

    Good morning folks.

Mild and wet here too, just like a dogs nose. :rotfl:

Today I'll be in college tied to a PC getting a load of rubbish paperwork off my plate, last chance saloon.

No doubt I'll be back later. Meanwhile, I wish everyone a happy Monday.
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread Nelski and hugs to all those in need.

It feels warmer here but I haven't opened the curtains yet.

Assorted plans for today, depending on the weather, probably a trip to the butchers to refill the freezer, it's only a single drawer but it's surprising what you can get in it.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning everyone. I am up a bit later today. Busy day working and getting my haircut. The film yesterday was very good. Have a good day everyone
  • Good morning Chums,

    Happy Monday!

It was a messy weekend for me. Dinner and a few beers with work on Friday turned into a late one, which meant I spent Saturday feeling sorry for myself and done very little. Yesterday I kind of came back to the land of the living and today I'm back to full fitness. A good night was had but I'm concerned about what my bank will be saying when it catches up tomorrow as I came back with the same amount of cash I left with, meaning my rounds went on the card!

So anyway, back to it. Work today followed by the gym tonight and yoga. Fridge is fully stocked so dinners this week are all taken care of. Omelette tonight I think.

Nelski - That's funny because I actually enjoy that element of London. Of course it's naivety, but I like to think that everyone is out there getting it, chasing their dreams, working hard and it inspires me.
    Camelot - Good on you!
  • Morning all, I've been up since 2. 30 and I suspect that I may have peaked for the day.

There has been quite a lot of rain through the night, stopped now but it looks rather dull and dismal.

Thinking of those who may need a bit of virtual support.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Late up, did not wake until 8.15, had to take my osteo pill, so sat upring reading until 8.45. I find it difficult to drink a large glass of water at that time in the morning, however needs must. Washed, dressed, just had brekkie, need to clean the bathroom and our bedroom OH will Dyson the floors and also scrub the bathroom and toilet floors.

Lamb yesterday was delicious, the red wine marinade and slivers of garlic really help the flavour. Enough meat left for supper tonight, will do another roast dinner.

Laundry in, it is wet, so it will be going in the dryer, good job I have a surplus in the fuel account. I have turned the heating down it quite a bit warmer this morning.

Finished the trousers yesterday, so they have been delivered to my neighbour. Can now concentrate on making 2 book pillows for the GGC. Its Denny Joe's birthday in march, want to get his done for then. I have been looking for a design with a yellow digger, cannot find one I like so think its going to be Thomas the tank. I will get him a Thomas book to go in it.

Snoozer....I hope Steve's temperature has come down and he will soon be home with you again.

Nelski.....enjoy your 'day at the sea' hope its not too cold.

    Holly..... enjoy your friends visit.

    Specky....... hmmmm........paracetamol?
