BMW 1 Series 2013 vs 2014?

So I am going to be buying a 2014 BMW 1 Series Business EfficiencyDynamics 116d soon, but was wondering what are the differences between this one and say a 2013? Or a 2015? Would you recommend this car, what do you guys if you have owned one or currently own one like about the car.., this will be my Second car after currently owning a Ford Fiesta Zetec 2008 1.25 :)

How many miles per year do you do?
  • So it’s been 583 days since I have gotten my car, will be 2 years in June and I have done 9862 miles.

If you are doing less than 5000 miles a year, a diesel probably isn't the engine for you. There will probably be very little difference between year models.
  • I will be doing a lot more traveling with the BMW than I do in my car now, my car now isn’t very powerful and has been causing me a lot of trouble with the battery hence I don’t take it far, the BMW I am planning on getting gas 31,000 miles on it, I would rather go to a diesal than a petrol as some say the Petrols may be a little under powered

There's no difference between 2013 and 2014 models however there is the facelifted LCI version from 2015 onwards. Steer clear of the diesel if you're only doing 5000 miles, you can get a similarly priced 118i instead.
  • Watch timing chains, known problem up to 2013 in think. Plenty of info on the internet.
  • I’m not looking for anything overaly powerful seeing as my car now does only 68bhp and 91 torque, the 116d came out as a good price with insurance , anything more expensive and I’m
Looking at £1400 a year on insurance
  • Yeah heard about the timin chain issues hence why I’m stearing away from the lower years, 2014 I haven’t really seen much an issue with the belts
  • Yeah true, the only reason for the low miles is because I only do college 3 days a week, I’m on my 3rd year of electrical engineering and will be going onto 5 days a week work aswell as long 6 hour journeys ocasionly
