Ombudsman

I contacted my bank in January last year, and used your template to ask about unfair packaged account fees, I have had a couple of letters from them to say that they are continuing to gather information regarding my claim, but my letters have largely been ignored.
In October last year I contacted the Ombudsman about this, and received an email back to say that they would contact me within 4 weeks to let me know how they could help - and I have heard nothing since!
I don't know what to do next - I get the impression that the bank hope I will just give up.:(
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The bank will have stopped investigating now the complaint has gone to the FOS. You can chase the FOS for an update

Do bear in mind that banks have been sending time bar starting clock letters for packaged accounts for some years now so chances are high they will time bar the complaint but you never know.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Dont be in a hurry to go to the FOS. They only upheld around 1 in 10 complaints.
