Travel insurance while waiting for test

Hi
My partner and I have two holidays booked this year (July and September). We booked them quite recently and I've been meaning to get travel insurance ever since. However, my partner is awaiting a medical investigation for an undiagnosed condition.
From what I've seen, most companies advise waiting until you receive a diagnosis before receiving a quote. This is a bit of a problem though - due to logistical issues within the NHS, we have no idea when the test will actually be conducted, so we could be waiting months for him to be diagnosed. The test will confirm whether or not he has a specific condition, so it's not a complete unknown, but more of a yes or no situation. Does this make a difference?
Any advice on what to do in this situation is much appreciated. I'm a little anxious about anything happening which will mean we need to cancel the holidays and lose our money (this happened to us in 2017 when we left it too late to get insurance!).

There will be something in the T&C's which states about undergoing tests and declaring it.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

You would need to find an insurance that would cover him although awaiting tests. Alternatively, phone and explain the position and see if they will cover him.
American Express covered my husband when he had a test scheduled for after our return. Once they knew what the test was for they were happy to cover him.0 -

If you have 2 trips booked then consider an annual policy
You should always get insurance cover as soon as you have booked a trip (you can get run over by a bus at any time!!)
If you cannot get cover because of this condition then decide whether you are happy to exclude it or not
If not happy to travel without this covered then you should cancel asap0 -

A salutary lesson though one you dont seem to have learned.
You'll just have to phone around or perhaps try one of the few remaining high street brokers who would know who would be likely to cover.
It will of course depend on the condition, and the policy, my annual policy for example covered me except for any issue with my mother who had a multiplicity of serious medical problems. So where normally death or illness of a close relative means you are covered for cancellation, it wouldnt have in that instance.
In your case, would a positive diagnosis mean you had to cancel the holiday, or would it mean you could still go but not be covered for an issue relating to it ? That would also drive the decision.
Good luck with the diagnosis.0
