Well after 2 days the cycling does seem to be less frequent when at the set temperature but it's difficult to tell definatively due to milder weather, the speed at which the house cools etc. But it does seem to keep the house at a more constant temperature.

What I don't like is that the thermostat 'nudges' the temperature up to the set temperature by cycling rather than continuous firing until set temperature is reached i.e. when I came back in the house I turned the heat up from 17 to 18 degrees the system fired up but even with the temperature showing on the thermostat as 17 the flame symbol was off the system went off, rads cooled slightly and then fired up again, and again, and again. I would rather that it fired to get to the set temperature as soon as possible and then started cycling, even if it means intially overshooting the set temperature. Modern technology hey!
