Extra Energy

I was with Extra Energy, and have been moved to Scottish Power. So far I haven't heard from Scottish Power or Extra Energy and I haven't paid any bills. I owe one month to Extra Energy (November's) and two months to Scottish Power (December and January). Scottish Power have put me on a higher rate than I was on. I have tried to get in touch with them but can't and I am unable to transfer my energy account elsewhere as they have not yet transferred my account over from Extra Energy.

How do I go forward as I don't want a huge bill that I can't afford and I don't want to be tied to Scottish Power in order to pay off a large bill that I can't afford slowly.

You pay the bill with the money you have been putting aside each month. SP are having problems sorting out the mess they have been left and it seems it may be some time before they are sorted. If you know roughly what your unit rate and daily charge is you can read the meter and work it out for yourself.

Same here, no payment since November. I've contacted SP to chase new account details but they went quiet. We'll make sure to put aside the previous monthly bill. I'm sure we were in credit over the summer months and the initial comms said this would be preserved.

Another reason to take your own meter readings and keep your own records.
As said above, it's not everso difficult to read your meter, do your own sums and make sure tha you put the money away for when the bill finally comes in.

Sending in regular readings, checking bills regularly and downloading and saving them means that you are in control and should know where you stand.

Keeping your own records will keep you on track and ensure that any problems can be sorted out even when the supplier goes bust or makes a right pigs ear of it all

Once Scottish Power contacts you to confirm you've been transferred to it, use our free Cheap Energy Club to see if you can save by switching. It's best to wait until you hear from Scottish Power though, as switching before the transfer completes could lead to a long delay or the switch not going through....

We're working hard to transfer your account from Extra Energy. Please bear with us - this has taken longer than we anticipated due to the poor quality of data that we've been sent by Extra Energy about your account.

Can I switch to a different energy supplier now?

You won’t be able to switch to another supplier while your account is being transferred to ScottishPower. We certainly hope you decide to stay with us as we’ve been voted best large energy supplier of the year for 2018 by uSwitch, however, you’ll be free to choose another supplier as soon as your transfer is complete.
