Safe journey Nelski and enjoy Brighton.

DP1, I was pleased to hear your news - I hope she will be allowed home soon.

SO, I'm glad you got a couple of words and that the cake was eaten.

I'm home alone! Steve's rash spread so he ended up looking like a giant raspberry and the GP had said if that happened to go to A&E. I rang the emergency helpline again, not without a certain amount of trepidation. Luckily it was a different nurse who was very concerned that Steve's temp was still so high (39.5) and told us to come in. She was apologetic about the other one saying it needed to run it's course.

We saw a doc as soon as we got there who said he would be admitted for observation and IV antibiotics. She also said that there had been a failure of outpatient care. I think I might make a formal complaint about the nurse because although in Steve's case no harm has been done another person might have catastrophic consequences. I just don't want there to be any bad feeling towards us if I do.

I'm expecting him to be discharged today, although his temp will be normal atm, it starts climbing in the afternoon so they won't see that.

Laura said she would come up until tomorrow. I said not to but she wants to see her daddy.

By heck it's cold brrrrrr but it's now reached -1 . It was -5 at 4am when I had to get up for a cuppa, as I was parched. I think my chef added a little too much salt to the stew !
DD called in for coffee yesterday and we now have more DGC training days and school pick ups in our diary :D. She also told me that one of her old school friends has been diagnosed with breast cancer, mid 30's is much too young :(.
I don't know if Dad will come for lunch, he will ring later, if he does we will have to de-ice our front steps. I'm only cooking a chicken pie with roasties, veg and gravy anyway.
Nothing much going on today here, only cooking and then chilling.
TA you got out I take it :D. DD offered to send Jasper in to find you but he'd think it was a game of hide and seek and you'd be there forever :rotfl:
Nelski enjoy your away days. As my DMiL would say "keep your hand on your halfpenny you know those seaside sorts " :rotfl:( I think she meant sailors ! )
Snoozer I hope Steve is better and on his way home.

Take care today if you're out and about. Hugs to all

Dry and very sunny here with no more snow, Nels we are all clear atm its very cold though so wrap up warm, which hotel are you staying in ? there is a place called Casa Don Carlos in the lanes in Brighton which is a tapas place and just amazing its always busy and dd and I always eat there when we are in town, you could get a cab or an uber to drop you off, if you fancy it maybe phone and book though, have fun xx

So dd bought her new car yesterday she is thrilled with it only two years old and done 11k miles, its very safe with lots of airbags and driver assist things so we both feel better about her driving about so much.

Still full of cold here so wont be going far today might just take the dog out and then back to cook dinner and relax, we are having roast lamb today with all the trimmings and Yorkshires cos they are my absolute favourite food and stuffing because OH loves it :rotfl:will do enough for two days so an easy dinner for tomorrow.

Snoozer thinking of you and Steve xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

A bright sunny morning, we have had a frost, the cars in the close have frosted windscreens, not going out so not a problem. I can drive again tomorrow.

My eye seems to have settled but not taking any chances, I need to do a clean tomorrow so OH can wield the dyson and the steamer. I will do the dusting etc, will use the Ken Dodd to clean the bottom of things so I do not have to bend.

No plans for today, just chill once I have done the veggies for supper. Will put the meat on automatic pilot, once its cooked I leave it to stand whilst I cook the veg. We have enough crumble left for tonight.

One last pair of trousers to hem, then they can go, they have been stitched up before, but the thread kept breaking so will use some polyester thread instead. That should do the trick.

Library day tomorrow, coffee morning at the little chapel on Wednesday, Physio first thing Thursday so will go on to Aldi to do the shopping.

I want to empty one drawer in the freeze so I can get more of the WFF meals. so planning on eating out of the freezer as much as possible for the next few weeks. We have the parsley box mals to finish.......

Usual Sunday breakfast, I had got 4 croissant from Aldi, they were huge, but then so was the cost, it would have bought 2 bags of the usual croissant I get. Up showered, hair washed, time for tea?

SO ..... pleased you got some sort of response from your mother yesterday, obviously cake is the way to go.

Nelski...... I hope your trip goes ok. My great Aunt lived in Hove, we used to go down on holiday, so I know Brighton quite well. Loved wandering through The Lanes even then.

Morning all! Got up late today, or rather, was woken up late...Had a rubbish nights sleep, too hot, too cold, pain etc, but a lot of it is due to sleeping downstairs on th sofa. I'm sure when the drain is out and I'm back in my fabulous mattress I'll have better sleep. Drain removal, the buck has been passed back to the cancer nurses who I have to phone tomorrow.

Today, more as yesterday, films [Captain America today] and books, with maybe a smattering of housework and a shower, my preferred items of clothing have been washed and dried so I'm more motivated today, plus I have visitors later on...fire is roaring away...

Well that's good SO, although I'm with Nelski, the chara is on her mind....Nelski, safe trip to Brighton, at least you know that once you're on the final train even if you fall alseep in error, you won't be missing many stops. Good news dumpling re the sleep, and yes, eat those veggies :) I also need to follow my own advice! TA, hope you get good neighbours! Holly, nice to hear you're slowing down! :) snoozer, yes, do it, because they did....In my case, I'll ask what the outcome of their internal investigation was. If it was human error, that's fine, if it was a failure of training or not following procedures, I will complain. Discharge on a Sunday? Do they do that? Hopefully it will be later so they can see his temperature is not consistent if he is still not responding well to the anti's....
Have a good day if you can, it's the end of the week though so every opportunity to start afresh tomorrow. Have a good one if you can....

  • Morning all (just).

I've been up since 3.30, not doing anything of consequence but pootling about. I have done some washing at least.

Poppy poor you, you've been so poorly and it must be a huge relief to be at home now. Thinking of you and of Snoozer and taff.

It has been really cold here bit virtually no snow, just the occasional flake. Now the temperature is 3° so practically tropical. I'm going out to feed the ducks in a minute. I hope they like leftover naan bread, they will be stinky ducks as it is garlicky.

Just had tge usual telephone conversation with my mum, at present she seems fixed on the idea that 'the government' doesn't do enough for old people. She wants meals on wheels, why she would want this is quite beyond me as my sister lives close and delivers her shopping which includes pre-prepared meals so she doesn't have to bother cooking. I suggested that she might try WFF and she says she did try them but didn't like the food so binned it. Then said she wasn't particularly hungry anyway. We've had this same conversation for several weeks now so I just say Oh dear. She'd probably like to eat cakes a lot, she says she doesn't eat sweet things but that is not precisely correct since she's always got a huge stock of them. I think our mums could get together Nelski and silver-oldie. She has stopped talking about moving house for now. That was difficult because she was quite bitter about anyone she knew who had moved in the past year.

I'm cooking pork today, roasties and all that jazz. No stuffing or yorkshires because my DS has been ill and says he'd like a slightly simplified meal. He's had some nasty side effects from the rather strong antibiotics that he is on and he is grumping for Britain. I can't do right for doing wrong at present. Last evening, the local police officer, who is a nice woman, popped in on a bear collecting call ( she comes when she is passing if I've got bears ready) and he was livid, he'd been watching something on TV and the visit, all of 7 minutes interrupted that. I chose not to tell him that it was something he'd recorded.

    Yours from the doghouse, AOD.

  • Good afternoon all. Started off sunny this morning, cold though, and we went for a walk, but it's turned cloudy now.

Sorry Steve is poorly again Snoozer, he's really going through it.

Nice to see you posting Holly.

I hope you get decent neighbours when the neighbouring house is sold TA, you hear such horror stories about awful neighbours

We've had a quiet day here, just a bit of housework, and the usual stuff

    Take care folks
  • Just popping by to wish MR SNOOZER well and hope they don't keep him in hospital longer than necessary.

DS and his DP popped in for a coffee and a natter on their way down to Morries. They have just left so it's now feet up time for me. I presented them with a bag of rubbish for the bin to save me negotiating the hazardous front steps!! The temp has jumped here to 3 deg also so maybe, just maybe, we might slowly get rid of this lying snow!!

    TTFN folks xx

Evening - my day has been fairly quiet. I've tidied everywhere as my cleaner is coming tomorrow, the place wasn't untidy though there were some things out on the kitchen counters.

The dishwasher has been run, the washing machine is ready to start when I got out tomorrow morning. I don't like being at home when the cleaner is here, I get sort of embarassed and guilty that I'm not doing it!

I've burnt some paperwork after scanning it to laptop so at least there's less loose stuff lying around. It's odd that despite being paperless with all my financial organisations there's still various letters coming through the post - 'your saver account matures in xxx days', 'your bonus interest rate expires in xxx days' etc. Maybe paperless means less paper rather than no paper?
