AGA Frying pan guarantee

Can anyone advise on what my next steps should be.

I bought a nonstick frying pan from the AGA Cookshop, their online site 3 years ago, it has a 5 year guarantee on the coating.

The coating has failed, they admits the coating has failed, but say it’s due to overheating. And therefore not cover3 by the guarantee. The pan has only ever been used on an AGA. They state in their response that their recommendation is that the pan should be warmed on the simmering plate before being used on the boiling plate, but this is the first time I’ve heard this.

I’m not happy, this is a £70 frying plan, designed specifically for the AGA, how do I escalate this.

If your guarantee reads like the current one, it does exclude failure due to what they term misuse. Escalating might yield some sort of goodwell gesture, though after three years it’s doubtful.

Care & Use:

Please read the instructions carefully to ensure that you obtain the best results.
Do not overheat the cookware.
Do not heat the cookware when empty.
Use only wooden or nylon utensils.
Dishwashing is not recommended.
Slight colour change of the coating does not affect the high performance of your cookware.
Always remove the handle before placing in the oven.
Do not use abrasive scourers on the base or inside of the pan.

Guarantee:

This product is guaranteed for 5 years from the date of purchase, including the non-stick surface. During this period, defects in materials of manufacture will be replaced or repaired. This guarantee does not cover misuse, abuse or normal wear and tear.

I would go back to them and state that there is no mention of this on their website.

As such, you could not have reasonably been expected to know this and therefore expect them to replace as per the guarantee.

I would not do this over the phone or by email but with a letter sent signed for delivery.

I could not find that on the non stick frying pan £70 on their website.Where is it please?

I have a cast Iron frying pan with non stick coating still going strong 20 years later.

We dont know which fp the OP has from 3 years ago. That text is from an aluminium nonstick fp — i assume they apply the same terms to all nonstick pans but we dont know what documents the op got with the fp or what was on the website back then.

I’m pretty sure it said. nothing about overheating in my documentation, but did wonder how they would define that?
