Hi, My son has a Lenovo yoga 510-14isk
Strange issue, when he plays Football Manager on it, when charger connected, the lenovo yoga just switches off completely, after a few second. But if he plays without charger plugged in, it works fine.
It's around 4 years old and he can't really afford a new laptop.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas what may be causing issue?
To me it doesn't really sound like a battery issue

Sounds more like an overheating issue as it will be running hotter when the charger is plugged in as well, both charging the battery and running the laptop. Chances are the CPU heatsink and fan assembly are full of fluff, especially if it is 4 years old. Downside is that you have to take the bottom of the laptop off to get at it to clean it. Good news is Lenovo usually put their full technical service manuals for their laptops on their website so you can completely disassemble them if needs be.
If you look at the image below, towards the middle of the top you can see the fan. At the very top edge is a grille and it will be the gap between the grille and the fan which has got full of fluff. It is just a case of taking out the fan, clearing the muck out and reassembling. You can verify it is this to an extent by feeling how much air is coming out of the back grille when the fan is running. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
