This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning lovelies
Cold and icy again but still no snow so hopefully we have missed it and normal life can resume again.
Awake early today as well as going up late after the work session. I had a lovely group again most of them were from America or Canada so they were telling me tales of real snow
Usual Saturday plans today. Will be grabbing something from the freezer/fridge for grub thinking maybe a full english as I am swamped with bacon and sausage
Had a lovely lunch with my friend yesterday we decided we had both hibernated for long enough so are going to put a weekly social event in as its just too easy to just shut the doors and stay wrapped up watching catch up but not exactly healthy for the mind. I think we are starting gently with the cinema
She has a lovely dog so also planning on taking him out for nice long rambles...my legs will wonder whats hit them :rotfl:
Could do with a Sat tidy too but nothing too major so a dull hibernating day for me then :j
Nanny silver panic not I think we are far better returning to the coven plan and ship them off on the charabanc Ill get it ready... its along journey :rotfl:
Hester take care of you too :A
candy hope your fire is finally fixed
Right have a good day all hibernating or not

Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Nelski
Not much sleep again.
Going to visit mother this morning. Had a call from the care home yesterday, they say they are concerned about her. She isn't eating and is refusing (spitting out) her meds. She has told them she doesn't want to go on and they think she is giving up. Will take her a fresh cream cake, her favourite, hopefully that will encourage her to eat.
Thoughts with all those finding life difficult, especially Holly, taff, Poppy, Steve, TA, Hester and CHS.
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. Wide awake at silly o'clock again bah!
No further snow through the night for us but I gather from the news our friends further south have had more. I was going to get the bus into town today but the lying snow looks as though it's frozen solid so I am not going to risk it. Even getting down the front steps is a hazard in itself! The odd bits I wanted will keep another few days.
The freezer is now stocked up with soup again and no room for anymore. Despite eating from the freezers since the new year they still look as crammed full as they were and getting into the usual turmoil. Another freezer tidy is needed when it gets a bit warmer in the garage!
I must change the bedding today but I dread changing the duvet cover. It's such a tussle tackling superking size on my own. I end up almost inside it!
Other than that I foresee a feet up day catching up on stuff I recorded through the week. I could find plenty of jobs if I felt so inclined but I don't!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. In particular HOLLY, POPPY, TAFF and the SNOOZERS. Take care all xx
Cross posting with SILVER OLDIE, (HUGS) for you too and I hope the cream cake looks too good to resist for your DM. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
Nelski - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black, DS1 went out last night and came home around 2.30am, was just very cold but not quite frosty. Got up to go use the bathroom at 2.45am and we have a covering of snow that's turning frosty, that seems to have come from nowhere!
DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas, boys still in their pits.
Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips/jacket potatoes, beans/salad for the menfolk. I had a stir fry vegetable cous cous dish. Tonight we'll be having hot chicken wings, scotch eggs, pork pie, side salad, skinny chips and coleslaw.
Yesterday was reasonably productive again, got a couple more jobs done that I had been putting off, clothes that needed ironing are done, so will just wash and dry the menfolk's work uniform.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone
I managed to get everything done that I wanted to yesterday, including the load of washing, and even managed to iron the sheet. Using a different hand to hold the iron was a challenge though, and I must have looked really funny, but I got there.
I took a slow walk up to town to collect my prescription and it was lovely to get out for a short while.
I don’t have anything planned today so it will probably be reading, watching the TV and dozing on the sofa unless I get a sudden spurt of energy. I’m sure that the TV viewing will include watching James Martin this morning.
I hope that Steve is a bit better this morning snoozer.
taff I hope that you got something that you fancied to eat yesterday.
csarina hopefully your eye is even more improved this morning.
silver-oldie sorry to hear that your mum isn't so good. I hope that she enjoys the cream cake.
Hester I hope that you can find some time for yourself as well as looking after everyone else.
Take care everyone x0 -
Morning All
I had a great nights sleep, feel quite refreshed this morning, must have been the flurry of housework last night. I had all the windows open and cleaned until I couldn't stand the cold any more! The washing is dry, I'm sure I'll find another load when I've had a shower.
Yoga this morning then DS1 and the DGC arrive, I'll pick DD up on my way home from Yoga. It was DGSs 3rd birthday on Wednesday so we are having a birthday tea. Just hoping the weather is dry as I've bought him a balance bike, I really don't want him scooting about the house on it! I've also got a little treat for DGD, don't want her feeling left out.
Here's hoping Steve has had a better night, what a worry for you snoozer.
You have a fantastic attitude -taff.
Hugs to the poorlies.
That cream cake sounds just the job SO.
I've made some hobnobs this morning and they smell delicious, I have to be strong!
Have a good weekend, take care. XX0 -
Morning all - still no snow here. OH and DS went to the very northernmost bit of Derbyshire yesterday and the route they took was clear. I was just glad they got there and back safely.
Holly it is nice to see you starting to post daily.
After quite a busy week, I have no plans today, at least not ones of any interest. I've woken with a stuffy nose so will probably have a hot bath to breathe steam, usually helps even if temporarily.
Silver-oldie I hope your mum eats her cake.
Sending love to those of us who are worried, unwell or sad.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all.
Not nearly as cold today as it was yesterday though still in minus figures.
I'll be going out for DM's shopping shortly, and will do a tip run too. After that I don't know. Originally I was planning to stay here until Sunday but now, as I'm coming back down on Wednesday I think I'll head home. There's some work to be done before Tuesday.
I hope everyone is keeping warm and toasty.
Happy Saturday to all.0 -
Morning everyone it’s frosty here this morning. Bit to do today I want to go to the gym. Get the shopping done and try to tidy and clean the house washing needs to be hung and what’s dry needs putting away. Other than that not sure what we are doing this weekend hope everyone is ok stay safe in this cold weather0

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
We had a slight snow fall last night, not really even a dusting, bright morning , sun shining but temperature -2, so I guess everywhere will be very slippy. No reason to go out so will stay in the warm.
Eye a-ok. Still putting the drops in, but only two more nights having to wear the shield at night.
No real plans for the day, have lamb for tomorrow so will spike it with garlic and put it in some red wine. Have taken the liver out for supper, will do a couple of rashers of bacon with it. No idea what to have for dessert. Have the fruit to prep for tomorrows breakfast.
I was awake at 8am, OH still snoring so left him for half an hour whilst I read the last bit of my book. So a bit of a late start again, not that it matters, nothing spoiling.
I managed to get one pair of trousers hemmed yesterday will do another pair today, not my idea of fun, but never mind.
Hester - I hope all goes well at the appointment today.
Snoozer - I hope Steve has a better day today.
Holly - well done on your achievements yesterday, but do not try and do too much. You need to rest.
Gers - safe journey home, when ever you decide to go.
Taff - you are one strong lady!!
Take care everyone if you are out on the roads.0 -
Morning all
The snow is all gonereally didn't last long at all, by the way Nels I am about 40 mins from Brighton and we are all clear down here at the moment will keep you posted if we have more snow x
I am still full of cold and have a terrible cough but I have to go with dd to look at and potentially buy a new car this afternoon, they have bought it down from Leicester for her so if its all good she will buy it, her boyf is at work today so cant go and I don't want her going on her own, hopefully it will only take a couple of hours.
OH will go shopping today and we both fancy steak and chips for dinner with stuffed mushrooms and tomatoes so that's what we will have.
I can hopefully get a snooze in this afternoon, I am watching a series on Netflix called 'safe' its very good so far.
Have good days all xx
SO hope mum caves in for the cake xx0
