Request from council for old care charges

Hiya
I need some advice, uncle died in 2017. I was the executor of his will. All monies have been distributed and all debts have been paid....or so I thought!! Received a letter from the council. Carer’s were coming in once a day to clean and prepare his lunch. Turns out the first month of payments from 2016 were never paid and they are now requesting this money, about £450. Can I argue this as this debt is so old and the estate has now been distributed??

Council must be aware that he passed away & that you are the executor as they have written to you.
I'd ask them why they did not invoice you when he died in 2017 & also why they did not invoice him back in 2016 if all other payments for this were going through.
Have they said why they are billing this now instead of back then?Lurking in a galaxy far far away...0 -
What inquiries did you make at the time?0
