private parking ticket...forgot card.

Hi all. just looking to see if anyone has experience of appealing a private parking ticket.

I haven't actually got the ticket yet. I parked in Birmingham today and it was a system where you pay on the way out. I went to the machine and realised I didn't have my debit card and had no money. with no one there to ask I took the phone number of the parking firm and called them when I got home to explain and pay what owed.

I was told there is no way that this can be done and I have to wait for my ticket and appeal.

I have no doubt my appeal will be rejected. I asked the lady what I should have done and she said I should have left the car park? I explained I didnt know I didn't have my card until I was leaving.

seems crazy you can't ring and pay the same day in s genuine case?

I've broken the terms of the parking by not paying as I should but it's a bit annoying given I have done all I could to pay.

any words of wisdom would be welcome.

Ring them again, and this time record the call as evidence. It will help you to prove you offered to pay the tariff on the same day, should this go to a small claim in the end.

You haven't said which useless, pointless waste of space PPC chancer this is?

Thanks. Euro car parks i think it is. Yes I got the name of the person I spoke to and made a log of the time. she said all calls were recorded.

if I appeal I've no doubt they'll dismiss it. does anyone know if popla would view things different or do they stick to clear rules?

Does anyone else less aggressive have an idea if an appeal to popa is worthwhile or do they just stick to the fact I didn't have a ticket? I don't want to waste time or money if it's of no use.
