Redecorating quote on a Let

Hi,
I have a small 3-bed end of terrace in Essex that I let. Every room is plain painted (i.e. no wallpaper). It was pristine when I let it 5 years ago, the same tenants have been there throughout & it's now pretty tatty.
The letting agents have just quoted me £2500 to redecorate it, this basically consists of:
Basic fill & sand down then paint of walls, ceiling, doors & frames of 3 bedrooms, the living room, and the hallway & stairs.
The bathroom is tiled so that would be ceiling & skirting only.
Does that quote sound good, reasonable, or expensive?
All of the bedrooms are smallish & to give a bit of detail on the quote it's £400 per bedroom for the above work (more for living room & stairs).
Many thanks

Bit toppy. Agents may be skimming £500 off the top I recon.
Get a local bloke to do it yourself, least your in control0 -

Why not just get a local decorator quote for it and see?
I suspect Dean is correct with there being a referral fee (or possibly an inhouse decorator)0 -
The letting agents won't typically bother with getting competitive quotes - they'll have a few trades who they use regularly, and have just asked them to give a price.
Yes, there's probably a slice on top for them.
Such is the price you pay for delegating your work to them...0 -
When I was self-employed I used to do work for a lettings agent. They'd add on 20% +VAT as standard (even though my quote already included it) before passing it to the LL, plus I always used to quote them high in the first place because I didn't get paid for 90 days and they were a pain to deal with (I always got the jobs though). So make that about 40% more than if you'd engaged me yourself.0

Which part of Essex?
Can recommend a company if anywhere near Leigh-on-Sea.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Either delegate the work to an agent and expect to pay premium prices, or manage the work yourself.0
