Credit Builder Card + Timings

My credit report is in good standing with the only 2 negatives being that I am not on the electoral roll and that I have no credit card.

The electoral roll is not getting updated until 1st March, we have applied but apparently that is the first instance we can be added.

We will be applying for a mortgage AIP in approximately 9/10 mths. My plan was to apply for a credit builder card and use it for a tank of fuel and pay off in full each month. However if I don't apply until March I will been seen to have applied for credit only 6 mths before applying for the AIP.

Would it be better to have no credit when applying rather than a recent application for credit with a sound credit history for those few months?
