Think about it, facial recognition systems would not be much use if you could disguise yourself by wearing glasses.[/QUOTE]

Having read the instructions for renewing passports, it doesn't seem to make it clear whether or not I need to submit two new photos or just present my existing passport and they can use the photograph on that. Can anyone clarify please?

If you use the new online passport renewal service you’ll need someone to take a photo of you using a digital camera or smartphone.
If you use the old ‘existing’ online service, send in your application by post. You’ll need 2 identical new photos of yourself.0 -

Our daughter has just used the online passport renewal service, new one received in less than 2 weeks! Taking the photo with an ipad was easy, get instant feedback if not acceptable with guidance, so just keep trying until it is acceptable. (2nd attempt in our case)0
