Don't plan on Amazon Prime one day delivery

Thought I'd give it a free month trial so I could get one day delivery. When it got to checkout it said delivery by 6 February, that's 5 days or 4 if you exclude the intervening Sunday.

  • Not sure where you live.. I use it regularly.. (last was ordered something yesterday and it has already been delivered today) not all of their products are eligible.. look out for the Prime symbol next to the product and those will usually be delivered next day (there is a timer which says order by 02H30M etc. which confirms when you can get it delivered).

If you are talking about Prime Now then again not all items are eligible and best to use the prime now app.

As above, you need to check that the product is Prime eligible as there are so many different sellers on there, not just Amazon. You will still find what you are looking for with Prime.

Fact is, you can rely on Prime delivery. It's so utterly efficient and I am so inefficient that Amazon gets a lot of my money.

I even try to spread the love around other retailers but Amazon genuinely can deliver next day, or bizarrely same day for some things. I've not been let down.

Everyone else needs to catch up with them! Next day has become my expectation, including Sundays. Entitled brat that I am.

Yes some prime items are not one day delivery. Some are weeks (they call it expidited). It all depends on where you are and where your local dedpot is and what is in it.

If I buy car wipers they seem to come from a german depot. They take longer.

How could any sane person expect it to be any other way? It's just simple physics!

It said eligible for next day delivery when I was comparing what to buy - I wouldn't have joined prime otherwise- and I was several hours before be the cutoff time when I put it in my basket but when I went to checkout it said 6th February . I've since complained to customer service and they've replied that they've had to adjust things because of the weather, but the item seller is about 30 miles away and roads are clear. I don't know the logistics of how Amazon 'fulfils' orders but can't see how it takes 5 days to get an item from Liverpool to Manchester

When you get to the checkout it should say when you will get your delivery, I've been a prime member for a few years and never had a problem if the item you are ordering shows your delivery date is next day, obviously weekend orders are usually delivered on the Tuesday.

They are estimates not set in stone. You can cancel in 'Your Account', 'Your Orders' if you have found the item faster elsewhere online.

Is it an item dispatched by Amazon OR dispatched by a seller? Amazon has their own stock in their own mahoosive largely automated warehouses.

Amazon also have 'Fulfilled By' stuff that sellers send in bulk to the mahoosive warehouses, pay a fee and Amazon do all the pack/ dispatch stuff on behalf of the seller.

Then there are sellers/ companies that list their products on the Amazon website, but do all the pack/ dispatch stuff themselves. Similar to eBay, right down to the delivery estimates.

    HTH!

Amazon prime delivery is reliable. I live in London and out of 25 deliveries in the last couple of months, 4 have been not delivered on time, one of them was 10 days delayed.

    Perhaps with
such a highly populated area with many multi occupancy properties a bigger problem exists.

It’s true you can’t rely on it. I do around 300 orders a year and many will be next day but some items take longer. Amazon say it’s not guaranteed unless you’re a business account, which works differently.
