proof of funds closed accounts

Options
hello,

we will be buying a house cash and i will need to provide proof of funds to the solicitors.
some of the money comes from isa accounts whichi have shifted around between various providers over the years and i have only kept statements for the past twelve months. i cannot therefore prove the source of funds over more than a year.
may i ask what others on the forum had to provide and if they experienced similar problems?

regards

  • Proof of funds or source of funds?

Surely you can prove you have it?

Have the solicitors asked for statements that far back? Bit unusual to be looking back over a year. Anyway, if you need statements then the bank should be able to provide copies.

I don't think they'd ask for more than a year anyway.

    We are waiting to exchange
It was rather more challenging for us:
The solicitors for our purchase wanted to see 3 years worth of bank statements. As the money had moved around quite a bit it took some sorting out!
  • Bank can send statements of closed accounts 5 years after it was closed. Contact your bank

  • I've got this exact same issue. Not sure how I'm meant to prove it. I can't even remember half the accounts I've had over the past 10 years
