After reading an article in a daily paper on soup makers I bought one and after some lengthy research choose a Morphy Richards Total Control soup maker which was not cheap.
Not that good actually you are restricted somewhat to the recipes supplied in the accompning booklet, making other soups proves difficult and they do not repond to emails. I should have stuck to the old saucepan only method. Thumbs down from me.
PS.. soup maker for sale, used twice.

I take any recipe I find and convert it to use in the MR. My usual method is fill up with chopped veg to just below the 1600ml line, season, top up with water to the line, switch on and 21 minutes later have soup for lunch and put what is left into freezer containers.

Strange that you've given up completely after just using it twice rather than adjusting recipes so they are suitable.

I'm unsure why you're restricted to recipes supplied in the 'accompanying booklet'.
I've had various slow cookers for the last 45 years and have adapted lots of different recipes with 100% success
And I've cooked lots of different soups in my slow cooker.

Is a slow cooker the same as a soup maker? Genuine question.

The cooking principle is the same, the big difference is a soup maker has a blade attached which will blend the ingredients. Still not sure why the OP think's they're tied to the recipe booklet, sounds like they've given up too soon. Another kitchen gadget consigned to the back of the cupboard I suspect.

I just use a stick blender to blend in the slow cooker.

    @Logen
I was trying to point out to the OP that you don't need to stick to recipe books. :)
I love my slow cookers and have been using them for 45 years (not the same one, sadly).
Did a fab beef stew last night with enough veg left over to make 2 portions of chunky soup.

Maybe the OP will come back and explain the limitations.
It's a pity to buy a kitchen gadget and not use it.

A soup maker is different to a slow cooker. A slow cooker takes several hours to cook, a MR soup maker takes 21 minutes and brings to the boil. I used to use the slow cooker and stick blender but this is much simpler.

It seems op has the rolls royce version which can pre fry the onions etc and has portion control but the basics are still the same - chuck it all in and turn it on. Loads of recipes on the net.

    FTR:
I mentioned slow cookers to show that maybe you don't need to stick to the recipes in the 'accompanying booklet'.
    Or maybe you do.
I've never said that a slow cooker is the same as a soup maker.
I can't believe that anyone would buy a soup maker and expect to be only make the soups in the 'accompanying booklet'.

I make maybe three times the amount in a pressure cooker for not much more effort.

Buy a Digital Pressure Cooker and a stick blender.
