Tablet replaced in warranty, now replacement failed.

Amazon Kindle tablet was bought in Dec 2016 and came with two-year warranty. In September 2018 usb port failed so Amazon sent a replacement tablet.
Now (four months later) the replacement tablet has the same fault.
Amazon will not replace it as the two year warranty on the original tablet has expired.
This seems nonsense to me,; how can a new bit of hardware "inherit" a warranty from a previous bit of hardware?
Regardless of warranty this tablet is four months old and has failed. Surely I have some right to a replacement under CR?

I suppose, thinking about it, a two year guarantee does just not that....guarantees use for 2 years (which you have had)
Theoretically if your first product had failed and lasted till now, you’d be in the same position?

But surely the warranty is specifically on that bit of hardware? Another way looking at is that once that hardware fails the warranty on it finishes (as you no longer have it what is the point of having any further warranty on it?). A replacement should come with its own warranty period I would think.0

Consumer rights and in most cases any warranty will run from the date of purchase and this will not be reset by faulty hardware being replaced.
Your consumer rights are the same as if the original had failed now. You'll need an independent report stating that the product has an inherent fault.0 -
But I would view it as a warranty being part of the purchase price. As you have only paid one purchase price, you have only bought 1 x 2yr warranty.
Not being unsympathetic but that’s my view.
In any case, had this with amazon too and they just replaced it without question, didn’t even ask for old one back. So seems unusual to me (from amazon)0 -

So your only possible remedy is to enforce your statutory rights on the basis that a tablet is meant to last more than 25 months before critical elements such as the USB port start failing. And the onus is on you to prove that it it's an intrinsic fault rather than from e.g. misuse.A replacement should come with its own warranty period0 -
But surely the warranty I bought was on that bit of hardware only. It has failed and is long gone so I can't see how that warranty has anything to do with a new bit of hardware. Yes, take your point that I haven't "paid" for a warranty on this new bit of kit. But are not manufacturers obliged to provide some statutory warranty on a new bit of kit?

OP, you may not like it, but that's how it is. Warranty period starts from date of purchase (or date of receipt if that is later) and lasts for a total of the warranted period; the balance of warranty transfers to a replacement device, a new warranty period does not start.0 -
When was the purchase/receipt date? That's what applies for consumer legislation.
I get what you are saying. But I didn't purchase this bit of hardware, it was supplied by the manufacturer four months ago. All I am saying is that I thought CR covers a failure within an amount of time of the consumer receiving the product, regardless of warranties etc.0
