New Car Urgent help!!!
Hi
So I have purchased a new Ford Fiesta 67 Plate from Arnold Clark, I have had the car around 4 weeks now . I have not had a issue until around 2 days ago when I noticed that every time I went over a speed bump that the front end of the car started making funny noises , Potentially the suspension creaking.
I have been to Arnold Clark as they said that I have a 60 Day guarantee with them, They looked at the car said there was nothing visable wrong with it but they did hear a noise exactly like i have mentioned. Because they said they couldn't find nothing wrong with it they told.me to go to Ford and get them to sort it.
Is this acceptable ?? They heard something but are refusing to deal basically, Should they sort it but not Ford since it is still guaranteed??
Your help would help when get some advice and emails going to them.

Yes But its under a 60 day Guarantee by the place I bought it from. Also a 3 years manufacture warranty0

3 posts from newbies about cars bought from Arnold Clark in 24hrs - when will people learn ?
Sorry OP - I know that doesn't help you. Assuming it's under Ford warranty then take it to a Ford dealer - but maybe take the big yellow sticker off the back first so they don't immediately see where you bought it.
If there's really an issue with it and it's not user error/damage then they'll deal with it0 -
But shouldn't the place I bought it from. (Arnold Clark) Fix it since its in there 60 day guarantee0

Nothing wrong with it, just can't get it in till March. I just needed to know where I stood in terms of who is at liability for it. Who fixes it etc.0

The other issue is what happens if the problems/parts is not covered under the ford guarantee ???0

Legally the place you bought it has to fix it. Their 60 day warranty is a red herring, the law (Consumer Rights Act) says that the car needs to be working properly.
I'd tell them that they have 28 days to fix it or you want a refund or a new car.0 -
Any garage should able to diagnose the issue, drop links, top mounts, snapped spring, damaged bush.
Go to your trusted garage and then go back to where you bought it from and get them to fix it or reject the car if they cannot/wont.0 -
Firstly... 67 plate is 11 to 17 months old - September 2017 to February 2018. It is a used car, not a new car. There was a new model of Fiesta launched in late 2017/early 2018. Which shape is yours?
You have a legal right to a refund within 30 days of purchase (you say you've had the car "around 4 weeks") for any substantive faults that were present at purchase. After that time, you have no legal right to a refund unless the supplier are unable to resolve the fault. Is a suspension noise a substantive fault, or just a bit annoying? It's debatable. The presumption is that any faults in the first six months were present at purchase, unless the supplier can demonstrate they weren't.
Suspension noise may be due to damage from hitting a pothole or similar - and that clearly wouldn't be covered.
If the fault is a manufacturing or material fault, rather than damage, then the manufacturer's warranty would cover it, and it will be a lot easier to resolve it under that through a Ford dealer. Arnold Clark do have Ford dealers within their chain, whether the branch you bought your car from is or not. Personally, I'd find a non-AC dealer, but then I wouldn't have darkened Arnold Shark's doors in the first place.0 -

I would rather take it to a Ford dealer to be done under the Ford warranty by a Ford trained mechanic who has probably seen this before using genuine parts than Arnold Clark generic mechanic with whatever the cheapest parts they can get. It may even be a fault Ford know about which is on a technical service bulletin to do if customers mention it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
