GAP insurance recommendation wanted

I am purchasing a new car and my insurer offers return to invoice (RTI) gap insurance as part of my cover for the first year for a new car.
If I take this the dealer won't offer GAP. They only want to sell me 3 years of their expensive cover.
Can people recommend RTI cover for 2nd and later years that is
Covered by the FCA, UK based and has some evidence to back up their selection, especially if they have had to make a claim on it?
Last time I read the MSE guide, Which, trustpilot and went with ALA.
Is this still the best recommendation, bearing in mind they offer policies from a German insurer?

I spoke to Warranty Direct, who act as broker for LAMP Services Limited.
They offer RTI GAP, but do not cover the finance aspect, which doesn't seem to make much sense. They seem to offer a quite (understandably) expensive insurance for a fixed sum, or a more reasonable replacement 2nd hand or new vehicle for a more reasonable sum at any time within 5 years. I guess they can source a new replacement vehicle more cheaply than a punter.
I suppose the question is do I really need it? Although I've never needed it in 40 years of motoring, the past is no guarantee of the future.Fred Bloggs0
