    But the pretty white line gives no extra powers to anybody. It's just more streetscene graffiti that the council have found as a way to get more money out of you.

    Or be like my council and issue a TRO that screws up the white line they painted across a drive entrance as it meets the first exception conditions. Drive owner is no longer happy that he wasted money on the white line and he can't stop people parking across the entrance.

    That's true.

    But they do ticket everyone on dropped kerbs that do not have a white line...so you have to have a white line if you want to park there!
