Hello All,
My children are 13 & 15 and for various reason we as not had a holiday abroad- which would be a real treat for us in present circumstances. Budget is not huge- £2000- apparently that is not much!
What and where would you recommend. I think taking ferry to Spain or France may get us more for our money, but as the children have not flown I think this would be an experience for them. Don’t mind a tent or caravan as long as the site is friendly and clean. My oldest is a quiet and bookish boy- he would love to visit Rome, but I think the heat may be unbearable in August, he’s into history and literature. My daughter is more sporty and enjoys beautiful scenery and applying her highlighter- they are quite different 😉
We all wish for a relaxed family time, a pool or not too busy beach would be good, and a couple of not expensive places to eat in the evening have no idea where to start, or where to go- I’ld like to say “the world is our Oyster” but I know we have to realistic with our budget.
Any ideas people?

Depends where in country you are and when you want to go - we've done a couple of 10/11 night All Inclusives in Turkey for £1400/£1800 for 2 adults 2 teenagers - flying mid-late Aug (after Scottish schools have gone back) from Glasgow0

Ferry to Spain in school hols. will take almost half of your budget.0

We’re similar set up. We have just booked Croatia in July for ten days, £2100.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Do you have to go in August - how about Easter in somewhere like Sorrento? Great scenery, exploring Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi coast, Vesuvious etc, great for bookinsh and scenery seekers, and won't be too hot at that time of year, and doable for your budget.
If you go in August - look at late August which is off peak in a lot of Europe. If you get a long ferry crossing, look at booking with Eurocamp or similar as the ferries are much cheaper via them than booking direct. Ours always preferred ferries to flights.0 -
Have you looked at the channel Islands?
I'm taking family of 4 to Guernsey in July (ferry from Poole & Vaugrat Campsite) for £900 inc. overnight hotel in Poole.Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️, DH: 🏅🏅⭐️, DD1: 🏅 and one for Mum: 🏅0
