Will I Be Charged?

Hi all
I had an Abbey account up until recently (re: debit card fiasco).
When my card was actually working one day, I purchased petrol and bits and pieces on my debit card.
My account had a negative balance so I put money in to make it a zero balance. Trotted off to the bank a week later to close account. Thats fine, lady said, no pending transactions, zero balance, thats it closed. Off I went glad to be rid of them!
I had a letter recently saying my balance is -£40.80 or something similar. It also says Overdraft Facility £0.
I went into the branch but they couldnt access the account as it is closed and said to phone the help line. I am loathe to phone that as they cannot understand a word you say.
Will I be charged for this? Can they chase for the money? Thanks

If your balance was zero have you asked what the £40.80 is for Stacey? If you don't want to phone the helpline, ask the branch to find out and if the counter staff won't, have the manager do it.0

It seems you know the answer>
I suggest you might still be able to access account on line? or ask for a statement. If you write and explain, they MAY waive the penalty and interest charges due."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
