Best camera for clear close-ups on internet?

My old Fuji Finepix has finally given up the ghost and to be honest I can't say I'm sorry to have an excuse to buy a new camera.

Can anyone recommend a mid price one that is particularly good for detailed close-ups to put on my website and on ebay (this is my main use for it, I hardly every use it outside or for holiday snaps etc.).

If anyone knows of such a thing that is also rechargable, or at least doesn't eat batteries like there's no tomorrow, I'd be really grateful for your recommendation.

Thanks guys.

JJ

If you're just using the camera indoors you might find a mains adapter. Most (I've seen) cameras will have a DC in socket. Get an adapter and plug into the mains.

I didn't realise this was possible - what a simple solution. Don't know why it never occurred to me though, we do it with the camcorder all the time! I shall look for one that will allow me to do this. Ormus, do you know if the A560 does? You sound like a bit of a Cannon expert!

Cheers ormus. I'll shop around, and my Asda does a nice looking recharger with batteries for £7.99 if all else fails.

thats just what i would do.
my batteries nearly always last more than one day.
i have spares for both just in case though. but they both take at least 100 photos on a full charge.

Cricky only 100 shots! I have an Ixus we use for snaps and that lasts longer. But my it is the pro-kit where batteries really shine - my Canon DSLR, can take about 500-700 shots no problem without a recharge! If I use the fill in flash (very rarely as I have a pro-flash gun) it'll drop to around 400 shots. The last holiday I went on, I took over 1200 photos and charged the battery twice, so an average of 600 per charge, with some screen reviewing too.

If you are buying a compact that takes rechargeable AAs, make sure you get the highest capacity you can, 2500 mAh or above, and obviously always go for NiMh not useless NiCads.

Else try and get a camera with a removable and rechargeable Li-Ion battery, they last much longer.

    i said at least a 100 shots.
ive no idea how many they will take until they stop, as ive never got to that stage!
(it also depends on which settings you use).
and ive certainly never taken more than a 100 shots indoors, in one day/evening!
i was comparing the rechargeables with plain batteries, ie batteries will be lucky if they last for 30 shots.
