Changing enery supplier / Direct Debit

My mother-in-law would like to change her energy suppliers ( i.e Gas and Electric) but she does not want to pay via Direct Debit since she likes to receive her bills via paper then she can see how much money it costs each month. She is frightened that if she pay's via Direct Debit she may not always have enough money in her account to cover the bill. So my question is can she still profit by changing her provider without having to pay via Direct Debit ?

Maybe she could save money.
You would need to do a price comparison (using her annual energy used measured in kWh which can be taken from her bills or calculated by using 2 bills 12 months apart)
Using the simplest website to get an idea of pricing from the Citizens Advice Bureau at https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/ and in the section "What is important to you" as you enter details, tick the box in "How would you like to pay" that says "Pay when you receive a bill"0
