Helpful analysis: So some 20m of the 36.2m are on benefits: I make that about 55%, not 10% (I have an MA in sums..)

Next get a qualification in comprehension!

36.2m are adults of WORKING AGE
20m claimants are of ALL AGES

How frustrating it must be for you that your dad and auntie weren't in a position to offer you such generous financial help whilst you were living off other taxpayers.

Gwendo troll alert... that’s exactly what the benefits are suppose to be there For, helping people who need them temporarily and for them to find their feet and move off of them later. There are plenty of people who know how to play tie system and keep themselves on benefits unlike the OP.

Yes you're quite right benefits are supposed to be there for people who have no other option but to temporarily claim them (although the op doesn't state how 'temporarily' they've been claiming them for).
Hence why I said it must have been so frustrating that dad and auntie weren't apparently in a position to offer the generous financial help that they now suddenly can.
