Insanely high electricity usage - storage heaters

Hi everyone
Well thank you all for your replies:
Richie-from-the-Boro: Hmm some of that made sense thank you.
Robin9: My concern is how do I monitor it? Flow Energy haven't announced when they are issuing smart meters to my area yet and my actual meter is about 15m from my flat and there are several walls in the way so not sure how the signal will work to the energy monitor.
matelodave: I thought I was sending regular meter readings but they were not getting submitted unbeknown to me.
Be Happy: Apologies for the confusion - we have storage heaters in both bedrooms (which are on manual timers) and the main heater in the living room (which is on the timer attached to the fuse board) as well as a booster heater. The little one in the bedroom is set to come up for a bit in the morning a for a bit in the evening. The main heater (in the living room) is set to switch on when my electricity goes to off-peak. I have the input on full and output on the lowest. We then use the booster heater in the evenings as it's so fricking cold in our flat!
And no, our flat is not well insulated at all but trying to get my letting agents to amend this is near on impossible (been waiting for them to sort out damp in the bedroom for nearly 5 years now...!)
NittyGritty: Thanks for sharing your numbers - I really don't understand how we can be using so much during the day!
mmmmikey: As previously mentioned already, Flow haven't announced when they are issuing smart meters and I'm not sure one would work for us as there is a distance between our meter and flat. Also, our heater controls are set to max input and minimum output.
MovingForward: Not entirely sure but I know that it switches on when my off peak comes on as I hear it start to boil and fill up. Also, when we have run out of hot water during the day, that's it! So I know it isn't switched on to top up if needs be.
Robin9: Hopefully my answer to Be Happy has helped to clarify things?
I'm now in the process of trying to find out what my neighbours pay as their flats are almost identical to ours and they work a similar routine to us.
Thanks again for all your help!0 -

Can you post the make/model of your heaters please? All storage heaters should be hard wired in so they only come on when the night rate circuit is live. It's concerning that you describe manual timers as typically storage heaters don't have these.
Also if you're using your storage heaters properly (and they're the right size for the space they're heating) then they should still be kicking out heat in the evening so you don't need additional heaters.0 -

The old fashioned way - read your meters. Every day - before you go to work, when you get home, when you go to bed. Then you will get a picture and know where your energy is going and when and how much it costs.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
