Bought new house and dishwasher doesn't work

You should take this so-called builder to court, and sue him for every ill gotten penny he has ever swindled. See that the slithering sub-human scum rots in the gutter where he belongs, and is eaten by rats! You are entitled to destroy the vile cretin! How dare he!!0

I was merely after a bit of advice before I go and buy a new dishwasher. I didn't want to waste money if it would be easy to get it rectified and wanted people to share their own similar experiences.
You don't know what's wrong with the dishwasher and I'd no clue about the oven. Further, no one here can diagnose the problem you have anyway.
You asked: "Do we have any rights to ask for a contribution to fix/replace it?" Others indicated that your rights are probably low to zero, so I speculated on why you'd want to go after the builder anyway, pointing out that he is less likely to know about the fault than someone who'd lived there.
In other words, without a motive, your reaction made no sense to me. It was not how I behaved. If the builder chappie gave you a good deal and you like the place, then it makes even less sense now!0 -
I would ditch it and buy another.
You don't know what the previous owner did to it. A previous DIY repair may have made it unsafeChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
have your electrics checked
if its the DW buy a new one
then be happy you have good electrics and a new DW0 -
The dishwasher in my current house was broken when I moved in, quite frustrating but it was old, just had to replace it.0

I would get a new one solely from what I read in a newspaper recently......
People on a popular forum said that they wash their toilet brushes in their dishwasher,
If that doesn't make you go and get a new one then.....0 -
I would have thought that this would be less people than we imagine (i.e a small number of people) and can easily clean the dishwasher etc once its fixed if they want to.0
