Sorry for the hijack. So who do we approach if a car dealer that is no longer trading, or at least trading under the name at purchase. I've had two failed attempts at Back Horse and can't seem to get anywhere, and only reading this post have I a little understanding of why
If you bought before 14 Jan 2005 then you give up. The car dealer is responsible. However, before that date is pre-regulation and car dealers dont need to consider pre-regulation complaints. And if the dealer is not around any more, you get no access to the FSCS as its pre-regulation.
If you bought after that date and the dealer is no longer around, you can send your complaint to the FSCS.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
