Miele washing machine

I own a one year old Miele W1 Classic washing machine.

It's great at washing, quiet and easy to use. Trouble is we can only use the machine when we aren't in the kitchen!

The reason for the Miele washing machine needing solitude is due to the over sensitive touch control panel. The panel can be controlled inadvertently by simply brushing or leaning against it. Because there is no control panel lock the machine can be stopped, the settings cleared and machine drained and emptied simply by being nearby it!

When I contacted Miele about this they said there was nothing they could do but will make a note of my concern.

I intend writing a letter to the company about this but wondered what legal jargon I could include - or am I onto nothing seeking redress?

What redress would you be seeking?

Either you have a very small kitchen or a very big bum!!!!!

Can't you just make something to place over the top whilst the machine is running?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Best you can hope for is £50 off a new washing machine, if that.
Write the letter if you want to, but don't hold your breath
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
  • Whether the kitchen is large or small makes no difference if, when leaning against a worktop, causes the washing machine to alter its programme. It shouldn't be doing this.

Covering the panel makes no difference either (already thought of this) as it seems to activate the panel regardless.

The redress I wish for is for Miele to reprogrammed the machine so that a panel lock can be enabled. Many manufacturers produce machines with child locks (not just door locks). Why not this one?
  • Cos that’s not what they designed, nor sought to sell?

There may be other consumers that enjoy the sensitivity of the control panel - as such Meile have designed with those people in mind.

Perhaps the issue is you bought a machine unsuitable for your purposes and ought to have gone for one of the other manufacturers that designed a machine that better suited your needs..
  • I've an old Bosch machine which has a panel lock feature on it. Being from the same parent company I would think it would have one too.
Try holding the start button down until a light/symbol comes up for locked. Check your manual.
