 Our mouse keeps freezing up whilst we are on the net, it sometimes happens after a few minutes or after much longer periods of surfing. We have just bought a new mouse and it is still happening.
We have to keep re-booting the computer.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and what we can do to prevent it.
Thanks
(we have windows XP Pro)

Is the mouse a USB mouse, or is it a PS/2 mouse.
If it's USB it's common.
If websites have flash content, that can cause some freezing. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Thanks for that.
It is a usb mouse. Its just one of those things that we will have to put up with then.

It's pretty commen with older computers running new fangled web sites, the graphics cards can't keep up, check you have the latest graphic card drivers, you could make sure your temp internet files are emptied regularly too, I doubt that would effect the mouse but can cause slower browsing. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

Most after market optical mice come with a USB to PS2 adapter, have you tried plugging it into your PS2 port (assuming you have one) my new Dell has none. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

If it's a Microsoft mouse try reinstalling the Intellipoint driver.0
