Getting credit/final bill after a takeover?
So,
I changed my electric supplier a few months ago to get a better deal.
Unfortunately, the supplier I changed to (Sparke) when in to administration a few days after my switch application….
To take matters worse, the “old” supplier (Extra Energy) also went into administration round that time.
My old supplier has been “taken over” by Scottish Power.
I read that my energy credit is protected.
However, I have had no joy in getting a final bill from Scottish power/Extra Energy.
Their last communication was in mid December, saying I needed to wait for a final bill (I submitted my meter reading to them a few weeks prior).
It’s now nearly Feb and they haven’t progressed. I can’t use the app to chat online as I’m not a customer. I can’t really wait on the phone and when I do I just get passed around. I’ve chased them via email a couple of times, the last time being 15/1/19.
Any ideas what my next steps should be?
Should I keep waiting for a bit longer (not sure how long getting a final bill should take, I would have thought it would be pretty immediate).
I’ve also got a sneaky feeling that my last bill will somehow wipe out most my credit (I think I’ve done my readings correctly so that there is no overlap between the 2 suppliers).
Any advice welcomed.
Thanks
B

Did you mean Spark?
Nevertheless, if you are waiting for Scottish Power to return any credit balance from extra energy , then the key is patience - they will be sorting out current customers first before looking at customers who had already left and are owed money.
I presume you have seen https://www.scottishpower.co.uk/extra-energy includingI have a credit balance on my Extra Energy account, will I get this money back?
Don’t worry if you are owed money by Extra Energy. We’ll ensure any remaining credit is added to your new ScottishPower account. We will also honour any credit due to Extra Energy customers who had commenced or completed a switch to another supplier prior to the 25th November 2018.
Once a final meter read is agreed, customers will receive a final bill from the appointed Extra Energy administrator. Please note, ScottishPower is not responsible for issuing bills to customers for any period prior to us taking over your energy supply which occured at 00:00 hours on from 25 November 2018.
The administrator will advise ScottishPower of any up to date credit balances to allow us to add this to your new ScottishPower account. Any outstanding credit owed to a customer who has left Extra Energy will be provided by cheque.
It doesn't sound as if EE's records were that great which is causing issues for a Scottish Power and as above, EE's administrator needs to work out what's happened there and produce a final bill - its only then SP can issue any refund due0 -
I phoned Scottish Energy last week and they said that credit balances and welcome packs should be in place by end of January...
It has apparently taken them longer to sort everything than expected.
Hope you manage to sort it.0 -
Cool.
Thanks for the advice and reassurance both :beer:0
